Why is my body being unreasonable

I'm 3 months postnatal (second baby) and my fitness has always been okish. I started doing some DVDs in the evening to begin the long process of getting my body back. But every time I'm half way through I begin trembling and get really hot and need to throw up. A bit of bread quickly eases the nausea but the shaking stays for ages. I'm not doing any particularly strenuous exercises that are making my muscles shake, it's the (even gentle) ones when my head is hanging over my body (when standing or on all fours) which is doing this. Do you think it's a weird blood pressure thing or something? Why is my body being unreasonable to me?!

It might be blood pressure...probably best to get it checked out.

But why not just lie on the floor and do some sit ups/stomach crunches to get back in shape?

Have you had your blood pressure checked post-natally? And iron levels? I think if you've always been fairly fit this is something you should talk to a dr about, as it sounds a bit odd.

I don't know, and you should ask your GP (snore! sorry, boring answer!), nut are you sleep deprived? I'd imangine you are still very tired! Don't know how helpful this is, but I just felt weird for about 8-9 months after my DD was born, couldn't really put my finger on it, but had eye floaters, often felt a bit dizzy, run down etc. I remember my lovely GP just saying we put too much pressure on ourselves to feel back to normal, and it takes about a year to feel completely recovered. Not very scientific, but with hindsight she was right (for me).

could be several things and yep a trip to the gp is in order.but if you want to play a guessing game with none medically qualified people im perfectly happy to make a few guesses.

things to think about.

have you started a different/restrictive/megga diet?
is aneima possible?
any new medications even otc ones?
fluid intake?
have you been ill recently the type you think nothing of like a cold?
any additional stress?

Like others say it's best to get this checked out. I was never too fit, but tried to slowly get back on the cross trainer and felt similar to you. And the that feeling crept in to when I wasn't exercising too. I got a bit fobbed off by my GP (you're ment to be tired with a baby - yes, but not feeling like you're going to faint whilst doing nothing), but then spoke to a family member of mine. Turns out pernicious anaemia runs in my family, and after badgering I was tested and i have it. I also had exceptionally low iron levels. Don't let them fob you off and get checked over. Good luck.

Exhaustion?

PoppyWearer · 16/09/2012 07:28

You poor thing.

A year on from DC2 and I have a few different health problems (previously fit and healthy, I exercised throughout pregnancy). Surgery soon to fix one of my ishoos.

It really sucks, the only thing I am allowed to do is walk and a bit of Pilates. It seems that pregnancy and childbirth really can and do mess us up! Hope you get better soon.

Thanks so much for your lovely support and advice. I'll get checked out I guess then.
