How slow is too slow?

Today we (DH, DS and me) went to a restaurant on the seafront. It's a fairly relaxed place but not cheap. We ordered drinks and some oysters (raw ones not cooked in some crazy style). The drinks I took back to our table after I ordered.

Cue 40 minutes later - no oysters. I ask whether they are coming and the lady says that they'll be out in 2 minutes.

Cue 50 minutes from ordering - a bad tempered DS wanting a nap (he is one) and no oysters. We got a refund and left.

So AIBU? How slow is just too slow for a restaurant? They had customers but were not heaving.

Hmm we once waited two hours for some food in a pub in Cardiff - I think it was called The Square. They had no intention of providing the food, they didn't give a flying f**k that we weren't given any. They produced orders for the next table who ordered an hour after us. Shockingly bad. We did get our money back but not even an apology. Busy rubbish places don't care.

I've no idea why someone would have to go to Oz for oysters. They are available here, you know!

Far far to long. Cold food I would expect out within 10-20minutes (unless waiting to serve with hot), hot i would expect in 20-40 depending on what it was, as some food does take longer to cook. The larger the place the quicker i would expect the food to arrive.

I'm clearly not moving to oz to get oysters. It will just be easier to fill my face with them over there.
