Chlorine will kill any virus in the water.

JeezyOrangePips · 15/09/2012 07:30

Don't see why not.

Molehillmountain · 15/09/2012 07:33

It would be in the rules if it were a problem

bigTillyMint · 15/09/2012 07:33

No

JeezyOrangePips · 15/09/2012 07:34

Why not bigtilly?

MissKeithLemon · 15/09/2012 07:41

Yes!

omletta · 15/09/2012 07:41

Yes

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 15/09/2012 07:42

If chlorine wasn't strong enough to kill virus, you'd have the life guard checking feet for verucas, and peering in your bottoms looking for genital herpes and warts.

seeker · 15/09/2012 07:43

Yes if the child wants to go.
no if she doesn't.

Megan74 · 15/09/2012 07:43

I would say no but not sure why. I think it would hurt? spread in the water? Not sure how much is killed by chlorine after I got a nasty eye infectioin following swimming.

bigTillyMint · 15/09/2012 07:44

Sorry I meant No, YANBU! So yes, go swimming!

Icelollycraving · 15/09/2012 08:03

Just make sure you wash the towel on the hottest possible setting.

Rhinosaurus · 15/09/2012 12:45

No! Herpes simplex is an airborne transmitted virus and can be dangerous to young babies,, and the warm moist environment of a swimming pool is ideal to transmit it.

GoldShip · 15/09/2012 13:59

Herpes is airborne Confused never heard that one

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 15/09/2012 14:05

Herpes isn't airborne, it's transmitted by contact with the affected area, so kissing, sharing towels etc.

WhatYouLookingAt · 15/09/2012 14:12

yabu.

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 15/09/2012 14:20

Yabu

Birdsgottafly · 15/09/2012 14:23

Be prepared with a bottle of fresh water and cream, your child may find the swimming pool water painful.

The heat and steam may make it itch like mad.

RightBuggerforGOLD · 15/09/2012 14:28

No. Child likely to touch his face and other kids. Not fair imo.

Rhinosaurus · 15/09/2012 18:16

It is airborne transmitted.

For those in doubt please see this thread may be distressing

I wouldn't normally link to another thread but that mum wanted to raise awareness.

Booboostoo · 15/09/2012 19:24

That is an extremely sad thread and I really feel for the poster, but she is still wrong. The herpes simplex virus cannot be transmitted via the air, if it could everyone would have it. The genital version can be asymptomatic and has a high rate of transmission to the baby during a vaginal birth.

2cats2many · 15/09/2012 19:37

Yes

WorraLiberty · 15/09/2012 19:45

I've just googled and apparently Herpes can be spread by airborne droplets.

Can't get the link to copy and paste though.
