To think my friend should have paid me by now?

I might be BU so wanted to check.

About 3 weeks ago I asked friend if she wanted to go see a show, told her date and prices and she yes go ahead and book.

So I did and said I'd booked, that she owed me £20 but no rush (ie I didn't expect it the following day or anything).

But 3 weeks on still nothing! Would you mention it? AIBU?

Hmmmm. I'd probably only hand it over on the night (of the event) unless specifically asked.

squeakytoy · 14/09/2012 22:41

When is the show? Perhaps she thinks you will want the money on the night.

Why not just say to her "hey have you got that £20?"

IWipeArses · 14/09/2012 22:41

When's the show?

mosschops30 · 14/09/2012 22:43

Show is end of October.

Maybe it's just me, I can't stand owing money even if it's £1 I have to pay it back ASAP (unless it's to MasterCard Grin)

Yes....I'd hand it over the night of the show unless specifically asked as well. Then I'd happily oblige.

ActionLiposomes · 14/09/2012 22:53

Yes, I would assume that I would pay friend for ticket on the night of the event. That's how my friends and me work these things.

Noqontrol · 14/09/2012 22:59

I'd mention it if you need it. Sometimes I just forget to give the money back if I don't have the money on me at the time. But its not an intention to steal it. Just remind her about it.

NCForNow · 14/09/2012 23:03

I forget if I don't give back right away...I have a friend who will ask me to cover her drinks and snacks in a cafe as she has no cash then not ever reciprocate...a tenner is a lot to me! Pisses me off. Yanbu.

McHappyPants2012 · 14/09/2012 23:05

Why is a MasterCard different, if MasterCard said there is no rush paying back would you pay it.

FatLadyAboutToSing · 14/09/2012 23:13

I'm with you moss. What if she cries off on the night, are you left £20 down? Also with you on the hating to owe anyone anything. Got the lightheartedness of your master card comment. After all they're an organisation who makes money out of people borrowing from them. You are not.

lljkk · 14/09/2012 23:17

Some people are scatty, just ask her direct saying you need to pay the bill now so you need her money for her part.

Yourefired · 14/09/2012 23:28

I'm with lljkk. I have on occasion done stuff like this. Genuinely forget. Usually I wake up afew days/weeks later in the middle of the night in a cold sweat of remembrance and sort it out the day after. I have a very organised friend (like you sound) who now just reminds me with a breezy, "by the way you owe me x for x". No problem, glad she sorts stuff out. On behalf of us dreamers (for which I have no excuse and I understand how annoying it must be) just ask her for it, without any agenda or ranker.

LydiasMiletus · 14/09/2012 23:31

I always pay up asap or I forget. In the past I have and feel like shit.
But also I have bee. Stung by people who say 'whenever is fine' and it becomes apparent 'whenever' is not fine at all and people get pissed off.
If you said 'whenever' you need to mention it again.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 14/09/2012 23:33

Sorry, if you said 'no rush' to me and were then too polite to mention it you'd be waiting months!

If she's a nice person otherwise I'd not make a big deal of it, just ask her for it.

Brandnewbrighttomorrow · 14/09/2012 23:41

If you've received the tickets then I suggest you offer your friend her one - then she's obliged to give you the money for it. I imagine she's simply forgotten as the event is such a long way off - wouldn't have crossed my mind if I'm honest.
