At a tourist attraction today feeling decidedly peckish as on 5-2 thing and fast day... Anyhow, I hear munching so I look and there is this slim lady in 40's wandering around the butterfly house with a clearly munched map in hand... I really wanted to ask her if it tasted good and if there were specific types of paper product she preferred.

I occasionally eat the rough sandy bit of emery boards, but not the cardboard but in the middle. As a child I used to pick little bits of bricks from the outside of the house and crunch then between my teeth, and then eat them I guess.

I recently got some new flip flops with foamy type soles. I must admit they are now full of teeth marks, I just couldn't help it.
When I was little I used to suck the stringy part of the mop.

Oh, I know someone who eats paper. I think it is only newspapers that he chews though so I assume it is a specific taste or texture.

I used to munch things as a child - all my dolls had chewed off fingers and toes and my pens were always in splinters at the end. I had a dreadful job in my teens weaning myself off nailbiting.

The long-lasting one is my hair - my mum used to warn me that I would get a hairball in my stomach and die but I'm still doing it now and have survived. I have always got a strand of hair in my mouth Blush

When I was pregnant, it was washing up sponges that I ate. The texture was amazing.

I ate paper when I was a kid. My dad did too, and a bit when he'd grown up I think.

Bus tickets used to taste lovely, there were sherbetty yellow ones. But it was a bit embarrassing once when the inspector came on and I had to take the ticket out of my mouth...

Oh yes -coincidentally I did toast a £5 note this morning- but it was a mistake and burnt the whole thing!! Shock

Garlic! You reminded me I used to eat Play-doh!

I do want to make it clear that paper, Play-doh and petals do not constitute the bulk of my diet. That's coal, like everybody else.
