Bloody Mr Tumble

gallifrey · 13/09/2012 09:53

or Justin, could he be any more bloody patronising?

Nobody talks that that really do they? Over pronouncing every single word.

That's because he's a children's presenter not an adult's one.

gallifrey · 13/09/2012 10:00

I know but I still have to sit here and listen to his annoying voice :(

I think he's fantastic. I only catch him at my brother's house as we don't have a telly but I don't think he patronises at all. He does sophisticated, surreal comedy for 3 year olds! I think he's the Vic and bob of toddler tv (showing my age). Plus 'something special' really is something special.

Bellyjaby · 13/09/2012 10:05

I hate the man. And he's on nearly everything. VoiceOver on the tweenies irritates me most. It's the way he pronounces Judy and doodles. Dd adores the tweenies. My oh loves gigglebiz. Argh

BeauNeidel · 13/09/2012 10:06

I like Mr Tumble and Justin, but nothing else that he is on. Even my three year olds won't watch Justin's House, and the Tweenies is beyond dire.

Don't mind him on Timmy Time.

cheekybarsteward · 13/09/2012 10:14

I don't think he cares really, he is laughing all the way to the bank!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 13/09/2012 10:21

Oh I love him.

I think I have posts here bitching about him but I take it all back, he is so lovely and 20MO DD absolutely adores him.

gallifrey · 13/09/2012 10:24

I'm sure that children do love him, and I'm not denying he isn't good at what he does but why does he have to over pronounce his words? I personally find it very patronising, surely nobody in real life talks like that!

My little girl loves Mr Tumble, I think he's rather irritating Hmm

bonzo77 · 13/09/2012 10:34

He is mildly irritating, but so is most kids tv. There was a whole thread about how hot he was last night. Very rude. Grin

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 13/09/2012 10:34

Isn't it to emphasise the words he's signing? So to take an example from this morning Grin he goes "I'm going to stamp an ....ORANGE.... ....BUTTERFLY...." with big pauses and emphasis to a) give him time to sign clearly and b) so kids can tell which of the half a dozen words he just said went with the sign.

I do understand, I always liked Justin but Mr Tumble creeped me out (clown thing I guess?). It's only DD's total adoration of him that has won me over, she literally spends the whole time Justin is on screen wondering when Mr Tumble is coming back!

Fakebook · 13/09/2012 10:38

He over pronounces words on Something Special so deaf children can lip read and so he can sign as he talks. He doesnt do it on the other programmes. YABU.

BobbiFleckman · 13/09/2012 10:39

HERETICS! HERETICS!
How can you hate the greatest preschool humourist of all time?

OHforDUCKScake · 13/09/2012 10:39

He's great.
My 15 month old has learnt so many more signs from the programme, so have I!
We love it.

WilsonFrickett · 13/09/2012 10:41

YABU. He's a god round our house. And he over-pronounces so children with communication difficulties can understand him.

2muchtimeonmyhands · 13/09/2012 10:44

Not keen on justin personally, mainly because he may aswell be on every single programme they air, he even does voices (well noises) on Shaun the Sheep!

I don't mind voice overs or even the character Mr Tumble BUT I hate
Cool Tumble with a passion, so much so I switch over till it's finished!

Justins house isn't that good either, he really annoys me in that, so does Dee Livery, even DS says "switch it off mammy!"

YouOldSlag · 13/09/2012 10:55

YABU. He's a god round our house. And he over-pronounces so children with communication difficulties can understand him.

This ^^

A large part of his audience id special needs and some children may be lip reading. He is teaching them to communicate and understand. I thought this would be obvious!

zippey · 13/09/2012 11:12

Is the programme not aimed at children and kids with learning difficulties?

You are being unreasonable. If you dont like it, there is an off button, or watch The Wiggles instead, they are great.

pictish · 13/09/2012 11:14

He over enunciates so deaf children can lip read, as well as learn sign language.

pigletmania · 13/09/2012 11:14

My dd ASD 5 loves him. If kids like him that's the main thing so what if you don't. Yes he is a bit annoying but hey ho he keeps dd happy and smiling

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 13/09/2012 11:15

He is on too many programmes. For that alone he is annoying. Plus, I think he lives near me because I've seen him cycling a couple of times with his arse hanging out. That is also very unpleasant.

But when my dc were little and we watched Cbeebies he wasn't as overused, and I liked him them.

pictish · 13/09/2012 11:25

Justin's House is abysmal.

OrangeEyesDoMoreThanSee · 13/09/2012 11:26

The guy creeps me out

KenLeeeeeee · 13/09/2012 11:27

I love him and have been known to watch Something Special even when all kids are napping

Feminine · 13/09/2012 11:30

I love him, such a talent.

I also feel he genuinely loves his job.

He fills a massive whole in the market. More shows should have signing and provision for children that would benefit.
