last night I was woken before 2am by my eldest, at about 3am my youngest woke me up & wouldn't go back to sleep. At 6am I had to get up to do a day's teaching on less than 2hrs sleep. I also had to take a teacher training session after teaching.

On the way home, in a zombie like state I bought a box of cream cakes. And ate them. All. By myself. I feel utterly disgusted and hid the evidence from DP & DDs before they could see it.

Thing is I'm bloody desperate to lose the stubborn half stone extra I've retained since DCs

Now I'm drinking wine. Oh dear. Oh dear.

I am BU, I know. No willpower, that's me....

Also, I'm not usually so illiterate, brain's gone.

yanbu.

You could do a big poo and lose 7lb.

Silkwood · 12/09/2012 20:16

?? How??? I cannot shift it, but then as I said, no bloody will power...

Don't beat yourself up about eating the cakes. One blip on your overall good eating isn't the end of it all.
I ate a huge frozen yoghurt with way too many toppings the other day, and enjoyed every mouthful even if I did feel a bit sick after. Then went right back to eating well. I do well for a week or so the have a nice treat. Slowly the weight comes off from healthy eating and portion control. Once in while blip isn't the end of the world.

AdoraBell · 12/09/2012 21:16

You're allowed after being woken by 2 DCs on two seperate occassions in 1 night. The only thing you've done wrong is believe you shouln't have done it.

Just eat sensibly for a few days and it will be cancelled out, erased, like the cream cakes never touched our lips. Promise.

OrangeHorraceTheGoldenOtter · 12/09/2012 21:17

Yanbu, have just eaten a mound of dinner, felt greedy, so ignored fruit and have just finished a big bar of galaxy caramel. At least it's only half a stone, that's really not that bad! I have 2.5 stone to go, no excuse and still don't feel guilty Blush, don't beat yourself up - it's well deserved after a night like that...

WorraLiberty · 12/09/2012 21:21

Yes YABU to eat a whole box of cream cakes to yourself...I bet you wouldn't let your kids do it or recommend anyone else does the same thing.

But you know that...hence hiding the 'evidence'.

Maybe think of another coping strategy to fall back on?

springblossompetals · 12/09/2012 23:14

depends how big the box was Wink

deleted203 · 13/09/2012 02:34

Will anyone in your household love you so much more if you are 7lb lighter? Eat the bloody cakes, girl. And enjoy them. Anyone who teaches needs sugar to get them through it.....and cream cakes are dairy. Dairy is good for you, lol.

akaemmafrost · 13/09/2012 04:00

Lack of sleep makes you eat more, fact. Google it. It won't have made much difference. Don't worry too much about it.

NCForNow · 13/09/2012 06:58

Life is too short to deny oneself an entire box of cakes now and then.

LesleyPumpshaft · 13/09/2012 07:03

I got my period this morning. Last night I ate a whole packet of Club biscuits, 4 packets of crisps and a Muller corner yoghurt. Blush

Tee2072 · 13/09/2012 07:07

The native people of the Pacific Northwest of the North American Continent have a saying - "Food equals sleep."

If you don't sleep, you need to eat to make up for it.

Stop beating yourself up about it.

laptopwieldingharpy · 13/09/2012 07:11

Should have done that! You are describing my nights for the last week!
My body just craves carbs to fuel it!
Agree akaemmafrost, have read those papers too.
I had an enormous slice of fudge cake before bedtime and went to gym the next day!

That half a stone is sooooo hard to shift. And i guess gravity takes hold too. Am mainly trying to counter the sagging and boost endorphins by exercing at the moment.
Rather be happy and well rested than thin in the long run!

LesleyPumpshaft · 13/09/2012 07:18

Silkwood, are you actually overweight though? Lots of women would like to lose an extra 7lbs myself included, but they aren't actually overweight in the first place.

Silkwood · 13/09/2012 12:26

Thanks for the replies!! Just stopped myself buying cake for lunch, feeling more in control today, although still woken twice by youngest last night.

Lesleypumpshaft - I'm not 'officially' overweight (BMI 24) but I feel lardy. I was 9st10 ish all my adult life and since DCs I've hovered round 10st3 no matter what I do. I have love handles I nevr used to have. I know in the grand scheme of things it's petty and I should get over it (or do more about it) bit as I near 40 it bothers me.

I do exercise and eat ok (cream cake binge excepted). But the sleep deprivation is still really bad (my 2 yr old is a terrible sleeper and 5th old still has bad-ish patches sometimes. I do think it makes a difference to one's metabolism and makes snacking more likely.

Hey ho......not exactly hold-the-front-page stuff, I'm going to have a virtuous cup of tea.

I believe it's called 'vanity pounds' Silkwood. Grin

I was overweight last year and a combination of stress and 'I can Make You Thin' by Paul McKenna helped me to lose about a stone and a half.

I still want to lose my inner thighs and I have a little bit of a belly, but at 35 I think this is about as good as it's going to get. Wink

Ephiny · 13/09/2012 15:00

You were very unreasonable, but you knew that!

Nothing wrong with wanting to lose a few pounds even if you're not overweight, but cream cakes are not going to get you there! Tea is a good idea instead of snacking :)

eurochick · 13/09/2012 16:32

Sleep deprivation makes my appetite increase hugely, so you have my sympathy. But the hiding the evidence thing is a bit odd for someone who is just a few pounds over their ideal weight.

BTW, I recommend calorie counting to shed those stubborn pounds. I use weightlossresources, which is a subscription site, but i know others who like myfitnesspal, which is free. Be honest, record everything, stay within the limits and the pounds will come off. Food is just fuel.
