I agree wholeheartedly. It is always full of rubbish. The covers are also typically bordering on pornographic and I have to flip them over around the children!

YANBU, I had to give up reading it about 15 years ago as I couldn't stand another Sunday yelling myself hoarse at a magazine like a slightly unhinged person

I think it was mainly Melanie Phillips that was the problem then, but I've never looked back...

Ours sits on the table for usually, less than 24 hours. It is then off to the recycle bin.

When I DO flick through, I think the format is insulting and wonder who it's aimed at? Short, no substance "articles". Summy Mummy? ......claptrap. The fashion is bizarre and aimed at 15 yr olds with rich parents. And every time I flick past the page entitled "This week I'm wearing....." showing a middle aged lady in some inappropriate garb (think it was a purple, shapeless frock this week - and the woman looked like death in that colour) I'm reminded of "Jesse" in the Fast Show. "This week, I shall mostly be wearing....Dolcheeee and Gabbaaaaana".

It pisses me off too. Clearly aimed at thin, rich young things who live in London. Mrs Mills is still quite funny, though, and I especially hate the inane ramblings of Camilla Long in her column, which replaced Shane Watson's).

I love the Style mag! Particular the stylist letters where people write in with "problems" such as I'm going to a joint civil ceremony and naming day in Antigua and I need an outfit, but I only have £600 to spend. Please help, I'm a size 6-8 and 5"10. I feel like I can really relate [sarcasm]

I do like it, it's meant to be over the top and shallow. makes a change from the home section full of smug people showing off their homes. Good grief, if we all had 600 pounds to spend on one outfit we'd just get a stylist, not write to the blinking paper :)

I hardly ever buy a Sunday newspaper but unfortunately bought the Sunday Times this weekend gone. There was a piece of sexist claptrap so outstanding in there somewhere that I even thought of doing a post on MN, but OP has beaten me to it!

"Mrs Mills" has IMO always been nasty and vacuous, and not even funny.

Mrs Mills was funny about 15yrs ago, the past 14yrs she has been rather tiresome.

Save yourself a couple of quid every Sunday and stop buying it. After 3 or 4 years you will have saved enough to buy one of the outfits they recommend for an outfit to wear to a Civil Wedding.

It was the only paper available on a plane recently so DH and I read it. What utter utter shit. Its worse than a tabloid. The first article was some columnist saying in resigned tone how women now all have to have botox and spend hours on their appearance as that equalled "power". The main bit of the paper seemed to assume all its readers were really really thick

Its worse than the the Mail on Sunday which I actually prefer the mag is better and at least you know what you are getting. Sunday Times is great for lining the bunnies cage though as theres so much of it.

I hate the Style magazine. Full of stupid articles about 'must have' clothes and make up that cost a month's salary. And as for AA Gill's restaurant review........ He is so up himself, it's unbelievable.

YABU to say it's just the Style Magazine. It's the whole of the Sunday Times that's sexist. Quite why you need a scantily clad woman draped over a car in the Motoring section, I don't know.

The whole paper is awful and very London-centric. I wonder where they dig up the people in the Money section. They seem quite removed from real life.

We used to have the Times on subscription, but I'm very happy to tell the cold callers who keep ringing me to persuade me to renew it, that it's not a good paper. It's only redeeming feature is the large general knowledge crossword on a Saturday (so we just buy Saturday's for that ). Instead of a Sunday paper, I often buy the Guardian to read on a Sunday. The news is just as up to date!

Agree the whole paper is sexist. I don't mind Camilla Long so much, but Shane Watson - You Do Not Speak For Me! "This is what women are like", simper, simper. No, I'm not like that at all.

I used to love the style mag when I was growing up and the Funday Times! Haven't read it for years though. The articles changed a lot in the style section when they changed the whole paper format a few years ago. They became a bit pointless. Mrs mills is hilarious.

Might buy it this Sunday.

I hate the crap health articles that someone has knocked off in a spare half an hour and have no scientific basis whatsoever, just getting some comments from the writer's 'friends'. Mind you I find that with Grazia as well.

I absolutely LOVE the fashion bit where the columnist shows you how to do this week's trend - think it was winter florals last week or some such bollocks. She always looks utterly crap and like she's been delving through the dressing up box. Is a standing joke in this house.

Food bit isn't bad though.

YANBU. Yawn, rage, yawn at the weekly interviews with 21 year old actress/model/singer types. Three whole pages of pictures of them in only over the knee socks and a lollipop, droning "Yeah, um, like, I worked hard for years before my breakthrough. What am I doing now, oh "hello" I'm like concentrating on my career but when I'm not working I put glittery tutus on my incredibly small dogs and I'm like so sorting out my lip gloss drawer." Every week a different air head.

Fruitsalad - I always thought the woman in the fashion pages was deliberately being ironic and looking like she's been in the dressing up box.

Rags to riches story of a woman who makes hats and now has the most fabulous house, and just happened to have married some stockbroker sort or banker along the way.

Oh no, don't spoil it for me!

Or the interview with the incredibly rich woman about how she manages her life/work balance as if the rest of us could all draw useful lessons for it. Feel stressed? Why, simply hire more staff!

Scholes34 - oh yes, the money section! Mr and Mrs so-and-so have [insert exterminate amount of money here] invested in [bond/bank etc] and they are only 32, and managed to pay off their whole mortgage.

Oh dear, I once had a fashion query published in Style. I did have a big budget and a fashion dilemma, but am 5 ft 3 and size 10 so more average. Not sure the response was helpful. I haven't read it (or Grazia) since DD was born though.
