To not disinfect my daughters toilet seat?

Family member has dissed dd's toilet training seat. It's one of those folding ones with a built in step.

One as being expensive and swanky at £15.00 (she had a stool and seat from Ikea that were £10.00 each but that's cheaper as she got two things Confused )

And this is the bit that is bothering me.
It's apparently unhygenic. Because I only wipe it down with antibacterial spray and a cloth like the toilet. I should buy a normal child's toilet seat like she did so it can be soaked in Milton and thoroughly disinfected of bum germs.

AIBU? Are we meant to disinfect toilet seats? If so why did I not know this?

Does said family member have obsessive tendencies? YANBU. Most definitely!

If she disses your toilet trainer seat for costing too much Hmm she'd have a field day with mine. We have weird shaped toilets so the only ones that fitted (ie didn't fall straight down the toilet!) were the big adjustable ones by Baby Bjorn and Prince Lionheart. Extravagent, moi?!

this is the germ ridden monstrosity that is the problem. It fits securely and is free standing folded so she can do it all her self. Whole thing is plastic and easy to wipe down. Or a rabid fetid source of poo crumbs that should so be soaked in Milton Confused.

Who is Milton? . Are you meant to wipe down the toilet seat every time your toddler sits on it?! Ours only gets done once a week with the general cleaning!

MNhoneydragonHQ · 09/09/2012 22:02

I don't. I clean it when I do the toilet. Unless we have accidental sprayage.

She was not talking about a wipe with Milton, but actually soaking it overnight!

do these people really exist?

I've been thinking about buying that toilet seat for DD - only spotted it this weekend. Thought I'd get her straight on the loo rather than faff around with a potty. What's it like?

I will make a note to buy a bottle of Milton with it though, just in case Wink

Stetsons, dd loves it. It appears wobbly at first but it's not. We have a potty downstairs for emergencies but she is happier tootling upstairs to use that.

Nelly, thankfully no not people. Just one person Grin
