Every night is the same, put the kids to bed then sit around my house watching telly and surfing the net. Every now and then I do house work but there's not that much with just me and the kids and still there are silent hours stretching ahead!!

I bore even myself sometimes!!!

I know exactly how you feel. I only just left my ex 3 months ago and it's really lonely! I still see my friends alot and they come round but it's still really hard every other night of the week when your alone with just your thoughts.
It doesn't help when your already in quite an emotional state with the change that you've just been through. It will get better with time but thats exactly what it takes, time!
hang on in there and in the mean time try nitting haha xx

The evenings are my favourite part of being a LP Grin but I am something of a hermit, and evenings were miserable when I was with XP, so anything's an improvement really!

I am going to try and look on the bright side because you're right optimisticpessimist on my own is better than with ex Wink

I think of it positively - I can watch whatever I like on TV. I watch box sets a full disc at a time which feels better than just sitting channel hopping on tv iyswim. I can have the TV off if I want to. I can surf online as long as I like and I can listen to whatever music I like. I can sit and read a book all night if I want (yes, XP even hated me doing that Hmm) I can go to bed whenever I like. It is fab. I am never living with a man ever again Grin

Also, I'm doing an OU course so that I have something for me iyswim. I mostly do it during the day when the kids are at school/nursery, but quite often on an evening as well. Might be worth looking into?

I think re doing my a-level maths is going to be the thing and then maybe OU the only problem being money!

I watched a whole series of Lewis last Saturday night and Sunday night, ex would have gone mad Grin

I think having a job makes a huge difference. When I've been on the go for 12 or 13 hours, with a dd who talks non stop either side of day's work in a sociable office, I am so glad for the peace and quiet in the evening that I often get cross if the phone goes. And I stay up too late cos I don't want it to end!! But I have always liked my own company. And I have a Lovefilm subscription. And I knit:)

I'm not sure what it's like now with the cuts they've been having, but you might be able to get help with getting the OU fees.

Whether it's from them directly or wherever it is who gives out grants (do they still exist?) or loans.

OptimisticPessimist · 07/09/2012 23:48

I don't know how it works elsewhere in the UK, but certainly in Scotland fees are waived if you're under a certain income, and there's another income level up to which you can get a lesser degree of help.

Me too Fiona! Right now is a case in point...

I never knew there was help! I'll be having a look in the morning Smile

Thank you for being so nice to me tonight and keeping me company Smile
