To call men "Snuffles" and similar?

Background

A few months, ago, my male friend said I had a "rubbish name"

I said I didn't.

He said "why did you parents give you such a posh name its rubbish? I'm going to start calling you Susan, that's a normal name."

I said "I'm going to start calling you Snuffles. You look like a Snuffles."

Now, I still call him Snuffles, and he answers to that name, and even signs off his e-mails "Snuffles" (I'm quite hardcore about things like this). I introduce him to people as Snuffles.

I was thinking about my other two close male chums. I could call one of them Freckles (he's a true ginger), and the other one Dimples (he has a nice one, on his chin).

AIBU?

YANBU

I named a friend Snow, He is still Snow. I forget that this isn't his christian name and would call his parents house and ask for Snow, they would be a bit confused.

I have another friend who I only call her by her surname, and forget that she has a christian name too, When I call her house and ask for [surname] I am asked 'which one?'

It's only if they become offended and hate the name that it would BU.

If you want to sound like an odd version of Snow White then no, yanbu.

AgentZigzag · 07/09/2012 21:17

I don't think YBU, I know someone I always call Dr Death, and he doesn't seem to mind.

Although if I started calling him 'pookie' or something he might.

YAnbu
I have a friend, Paul. He has been known as Paulette forever. I'm pretty sure he hates it. I care not.

It's unanimous, then, because everyone has said YANBU.

I'm seeing the ginge on Monday. I think when he texts in the morning to organise, I'll just casually reply "SEE YOU THEN, FRECKLES!". He's quite stiff upper lip so I don't think he'll ask what the fuck I'm playing at respond immediately. I'll do it like boiling a frog - slow is the the way to go..
