To think prince Harry is being selfish

Saw this on the news today www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19516079
I'm sorry but telling the world where the prince is fighting and when he is there puts all his team in more danger.
I understand he wants to go and fight but seriously, I think it's very selfish to put his wants before that of his team.

As a strongly committed anti-royalist this is hard for me to admit, but Harry is really growing on me!

He seems fun, if sometimes ill-advised, and I do like that he is serving with his colleagues in afghanistan. To hear that he is good at his job and gets stuck in like everyone else is very refreshing.

LtEveDallas · 08/09/2012 08:01

He did amazingly well in his pilot training. He certainly has an aptitude for it that should be exploited as much as possible - we need guys (and girls) that are good at their job, Royal or not.

He wasn't as good at his dismounted recce training - not bad in any way, but he is better in the air. It's a specialist trade and one that he does well. Afghan is the right place for him. People will be relying on him, and I'm sure he won't let them down.

thebeesnees79 · 08/09/2012 08:03

I like him and its not his fault someone told the papers

RedBeret · 08/09/2012 08:07

Clearly saying he is in Afghanistan is damage limitation exercise after the nude furore. Which wouldn't be his personal decision.

And as for the nude furore, he is only doing what all the other young soldiers do before and after they go to a war zone. Enjoying himself, and why the bloody hell not. Some of these young lads do not return Sad.

Give the lad a break. I love him.

watchoutforthatsnail · 08/09/2012 08:38

I bloody love harry :)
As an ex army wife, and an understanding of how it all works,I cant see how he has been selfish at all.

He's good at his job, hes highly skilled and needed in afgan.

It's good he is doing something, rather than nothing. I'm not a royalist by any stretch, but do have a fondness for him and William. They both seem like genuine, nice, grounded men.

CollegiateMum · 08/09/2012 08:41

It's the media who are selfish, not Harry. I agree that there is a huge security risk but isn't it better that Harry is a productive member of society and actually has the balls ( geddit?) to be a proper soldier unlike his other uncle? Just what does Prince Edward do exactly?

SomersetONeil · 08/09/2012 08:51

The OP has rather disappeared!

RedBeret · 08/09/2012 09:25

well we all know he has got the balls Grin

TheBigJessie · 08/09/2012 09:28

Another ridiculous attack on Prince Harry? I didn't think it could get more ridiculous after the Adult Takes Clothes Off In Hotel Room- Look At This Invasive Photo coverage.

GoldenSeptember · 08/09/2012 10:27

YABVVU. Hmm Which presumably you've realised as you haven't bothered to come back.

It's been known for months that he was to be deployed in September - that's why he was letting his hair down on holiday beforehand (as well as doing his official royal duties whilst on leave).

I couldn't give a flying fuck where and with whom he chooses to enjoy himself/take his clothes off. Ridiculous frothing hysteria on the part of the media as per usual.

He's a hard working soldier, deployed to do his job. Leave the man alone FFS.

lisad123 · 08/09/2012 12:19

I haven't disappeared, although happy to accept im wrong. I do think it's a very bad idea to publish where he is. I didn't think it was unreasonable that he was naked in a hotel with a group of friend though Grin

Fair enough then Lisa. I also think it's a very bad idea to publish where he is, but that isn't his fault in any way.

toptramp · 08/09/2012 13:29

YABU. Anyone who joins the army knows they have a good chance of getting shot. They are far from selfish; including Harry. If his fellow soldiers get targeted it is because they are ALL the enemy.

Thedoctrineofennis · 08/09/2012 19:00

Last time he was deployed his location wasn't released by the MOD or published by the UK papers but was leaked to foreign media who published it anyway.

I guess it's better for the MOD to be in control of the story...

lovebunny · 08/09/2012 19:03

i'm totally against it. the publicity if he's caught and beheaded will bring unprecedented status to the people who think we are their enemies.

LtEveDallas · 08/09/2012 19:49

Apache pilot is actually the safest job for him. The chances of him being injured, let alone captured and beheaded is minuscule. He's the right man for the job, in the right place for him.

lovebunny · 08/09/2012 21:46

that's very reassuring, thank you.
