To leave my toddler 2.4 years sleeping

My DS has been asleep for his afternoon nap for 2.5 hours and still going strong. Just recently he hasn't been taking a nap at all but today I coerced him into napping by allowing him into Mummy's bed. I've had a lovely afternoon catching up on jobs surfing the internet and tonight I'm going on a rare night out with friends to the pub. I therefore know that I won't have to deal with DS being up late tonight Grin. I suspect I am being a little unreasonable as DH will have to cope with a rather lively toddler while I'm out drinking Wine

Never wake a sleeping child is my motto...

AgentZigzag · 07/09/2012 16:07

If your DH is being left to deal with getting him off later YANBU Smile

It'll be quality bonding time for them Grin

Hotcoffeeisamemory · 07/09/2012 16:08

He must need it tbh. Leave him, he'll be fine.

FunnysInLaJardin · 07/09/2012 16:09

are you mad? Leave him to sleep and all the better that you won't be around when he's up until 10 tonight. If your DH asks just say he had about an hour........

Some0ne · 07/09/2012 16:19

I've left DD to nap for four hours before! She's unusual though in that she'll still go to bed on time after doing it.

I NEVER wake sleeping children because I'm not mad

tethersend · 07/09/2012 16:29

This is a win-win situation.

Unless you are your DH.

SkinnyMarinkADink · 07/09/2012 16:32

Defiantly leave the sleeping child, but only if your not the one on night duty..thinking about it you will have a sore head in the morning so surely a late night for dc is a lay in for the morning?

DeathMetalMum · 07/09/2012 16:35

Just hope your Ds isn't still awake when you get home from your night out! Grin

x2boys · 07/09/2012 17:11

i have a toddler about the same age i like him to have a nap if ,i,m on a late shift [am a nurse] cos i i can have a nice little nap with him if dh on a late shift though i dont like him having a nap cos he will go to bed at 7pm as opposed to 9,930 [ with nap] selfish i know!

MammaTJisWearingGold · 07/09/2012 17:14

Ha ha, I wickedly used to do this. I work nights and would rather selfishly leave my DS to nap longer than I should have done so I could rest before a night shift. Of course this meant he settled later but I wasn't home to deal with it, DP was. Shhh, don't tell him!

BonzoDooDah · 07/09/2012 17:19

Brilliant - leave him be or he'll wake up in a strop. Then tell DH he's only been asleep an hour. Win-win!

Floggingmolly · 07/09/2012 17:19

Some kids (I've heard tell) actually sleep better when they've napped in the afternoon, or is this an urban myth? My kids neither napped nor slept at night, unfortunately, but my friends kids worked on the basis of the more they got, the more they needed iyswim. I'm a bit like that myself Smile

x2boys · 07/09/2012 17:20

i worked nights for three years so get where your coming from and if have left lo sleeping for rather longer than i should have done i tell dh he has had less than an hour not my problem if i,m at work!

valiumredhead · 07/09/2012 17:23

Never nap past 4 pm is my motto!

MammaTJisWearingGold · 07/09/2012 17:28

Aren't we a wicked bunch? My DCs no longer sleep during the day, not so great at night either. I am only home 4 nights out of 7 though. I sleep during the day, when they are at school. I get the better end of the deal (when it isn't school hols anyway).

porcamiseria · 07/09/2012 17:32

yabu! wake him up! but after you have done your hair and make up!

crashdollGOLD · 07/09/2012 17:36

I think leaving your toddlers sleeping for 2.4 year is a little excessive.
