I bet they're bitching about us as much as we're bitching about them.

I think here there is less preasure to choose a middle class job so if there isn't loads of preasure to get good grades so you can go to uni, if you don't want to go to uni there are great courses in plumbing, truck driving, child care and those jobs are as respected and well paid as being a teacher or accountant. The teanagers here just seem relaxed in the knowledge that they can and will find a job they are good at and enjoy and they don't need to choose a certain path maintain their class status.

honeytea you are 100% right in saying that other countries, Sweden among them, are doing vocational education and respect for skilled professionals far better than the UK. I think the legacies of the class system are getting in the way here.
