I frequently wear clothes again if they are not dirty. People wash far too much IMO. And as for actors - they wear the same costumes for a whole season in some cases. Backstage can really honk. You can't stick some fancy period costume with corsets in the washing machine.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 06/09/2012 13:41

Op, MrsReiver makes the point that the dress was specially made to promote the book. She is, presumably and as you say, on the show to promote it ..... Hence yabvu!!

I imagine she could easily have had it cleaned and pressed by some lackey before today's appearance, if it makes your mind rest easier, just think of that.

IawnCont · 06/09/2012 13:42

Nah, you're right. Urghhhh at someone because they wear something that's still clean- That's not personal at all, is it?
I should really acquire some standards.

PiousPrat · 06/09/2012 13:42

I always wear the same jeans until either I have need to wear something different ie gym gear or smart trousers, or they get toddlered. That could be 3 hours, it could be 3 days #shrugs#

nochipsthanks · 06/09/2012 13:47

I wear the same jeans two or three days in a row at home. Different clothes daily for work though. Different knickers evey day, will wear same bra two three days in a row with rinsing out nightly and hanging up before a proper wash.

I shower and wash hair in the am and shower just body in the evening (hate going to bed feeling the day's grit on my skin).

I thought all that was pretty normal, tbh. Never thought someone might think I am dirty and without standards!

There are five in our household and I wash the clothes quite enough as it is.

LadyInDisguise · 06/09/2012 13:48

@vinegar: I actually do iron all my clothes.
But washing clothes just because you have wore them a few hours? Even if they are not dirty? Why?

BTW, how do you know that your colleague doesn't have 2 jumpers exactly the same? I know I do for work and would not think twice about not wearing them one after the other if it's the only thing left in the cupboard.
It's not an issue with standards. It's an issue with presumptions that if one hasn't change their clothes then they probably also have dubious hygiene too.

nochipsthanks · 06/09/2012 13:51

Actually- good point about having a couple of things that are the same. I wear heaps of black and navy blue. And I buy 4-5 t-shirts in one go that are the same colours.

Oh and cardigans- maybe I would wash them after 4-5 wears (not on consecutive days thought- one wear, put away then the following week perhaps.) Hmmm. never gave it all that much thought. Wash clothes when dirty really.

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 13:57

i cant find a comment were i said you should wash your clothes after wearing them once/for a few hours. I certainly dont, i hang them back up if they are still clean and wear them at a later date, just not the next day, but thats just me, not sayin you should do as i do

why would someone buy two of the exact same jumper? thats just bizarre (again this is just my opinion)

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 14:01

I wouldn't wear the same thing two days in a row as I would be convinced that someone would look beadily at me and think 'scrubber'.

I do hang trousers back up (sometimes) but never tops.

But I am strange about my laundry anyway.

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 14:03

been on a sobatical for a couple of years Wink

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 14:08

Mind you I have made a rod for my own back.

DD is now in 6th form (no uniform) and we had the whole palaver of what to wear this morning 'I can't wear those jeans mum as I wore them yesterday and I haven't got a top to go with my chinos and oh no where did I put the pink jeans'

God. It's only day 2.

ChunkyPickle · 06/09/2012 14:11

I'd wear the same clothes every day if I could - I often have 2 or three of the same item in the same colour (6 or 8 of the same item in 3 different colours) for work - I'm just not into picking out an outfit each day, I'd prefer to just grab what's next in the draw and wear it.

I wear jeans for a few days, jumpers for a few days, and underwear/t-shirts just the one day. I thought that was pretty normal.

Pickles77 · 06/09/2012 15:08

WildWorld2004 · 06/09/2012 17:15

She was going on about the book & the dress last night. Was half listening & half trying to get dd ready.

How do u know its the same clothes that people are wearing? Maybe they buy loads of the same thing.

MrsReiver · 06/09/2012 17:30

You can watch her interview on The One Show on iplayer but she does say the dress is a bit silly or words to that effect because the skirt is massive and floaty.

You can see the tartan here.

Pickles77 · 06/09/2012 17:33
