Have a 3 month old and whilst in labour midwife found a cyst. I haven't ventured down there until tonight when I decided to have a feel for it. I did find it and it scared me. I went downstairs to tell DH and ask him to have a feel. He said I will wash my hands and come up. That was half an hour ago....
AIBU to have expected him up by now??? X

YANBU. Is he watching the end of Dallas?

Sparklingbrook · 05/09/2012 22:14

But seriously, did the Midwife say to see your GP or anything?

goldenwispa · 05/09/2012 22:14

YANBU but giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he doesn't realise how concerned you are. Did the midwife follow it up?

MamaMumrOrangeTheGolden · 05/09/2012 22:16

X post sparkling

goldenwispa · 05/09/2012 22:17

No, she went and got a gyno to come have a feel and he just said it might pop in labour....

OP posts:
goldenwispa · 05/09/2012 22:20

Non of them said to see gp and I was hoping that the gyno was the expert??

OP posts:
apostropheuse · 05/09/2012 22:21

To be fair to him, maybe he's a bit grossed out by it. Perhaps it would be better to see your GP?

Sparklingbrook · 05/09/2012 22:23

I think if you are scared you should make a GP appointment and discuss it even if just to put your mind at rest, It's bothering you, and you don't need the worry with a 3 month old to look after.

The Gyno said it might pop but it hasn't. Sad

goldenwispa · 05/09/2012 22:23

Apost- really???

imonthefone · 05/09/2012 22:24

a cyst isnt usually anything to worry about Smile
maybe he doesnt realise you are worried?

Sparklingbrook · 05/09/2012 22:25

If he is like my DH he would be worried about saying the wrong thing. What do you want him to say? I doubt he is grossed out TBH.

goldenwispa · 05/09/2012 22:27

When I told him I had found it I laid my head on his chest and filled up. So I think he may understand that I am worried. I'm such a soft cow I suppose I should cut him a break x

OP posts:
imonthefone · 05/09/2012 22:29

shout down, and ask him if he is coming up, or what?!

Sparklingbrook · 05/09/2012 22:33

Make an appointment with the GP tomorrow. Don't wait for your DH's verdict.

goldenwispa · 05/09/2012 22:34

Just told him sorry for putting it on.him.will make an appointment tomorrow x

OP posts:
imonthefone · 05/09/2012 22:35

and what was his response?

Sparklingbrook · 05/09/2012 22:36

I think that's the best decision. You can stop worrying then. x

apostropheuse · 05/09/2012 22:38

Goldenwispa, I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you there. What I was meaning is, some people are quite squeamish (myself included). I'm not saying it's right, and you're obviously really worried, but I just wondered if that might be a reason - avoidance rather than him not wanting to come up.

I do think you should get it seen to though.

Oh and for what it's worth, cysts are fairly common - I often got them on my breasts when I was younger.

Try not to worry (easier said than done I know) and make a phone call in the morning.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 05/09/2012 22:41

goldenwispa please try not to worry and as . apostropheuse says call your GP it is often the unknown that is scary. Perhaps speak to your DH about how you are feeling?

NarkedRaspberry · 05/09/2012 22:42

Cysts aren't a huge deal! Just think of it as a big spot. Go to your GP and confirm that's what it is and stop fretting!

Hot baths generally help them pop.

bubalou · 05/09/2012 22:55

Of course I am not a doctor & u should go see yours to put your mind at rest but don't worry yourself.

I am very prone to cysts. I currently have around 5-8 I think somewhere on me. I don't look like some huge lumpy monster by the way Wink they are all hidden.

I've been prone to them for years & the only time I've had problems was when I got cysts inside my eyelids Confused - ouch, lucky me!

They are harmless sacks of fluid & usually go away on their own but they can be popped or drained. I just ignore if I can.

ErikNorseman · 05/09/2012 22:57

Ummm I wouldn't want to feel anyone's cyst, even a DP or my DS. I'd be getting them to seek medical attention urgently but I'm not a doctor and I'm very squeamish, there would be no point in me feeling someone's cyst. Maybe he wants to support you without having to feel the cyst?

NarkedRaspberry · 05/09/2012 23:52

Why are the people with the great cysts never married to the people with the sporn obsessions. It's not fair.

Sparklingbrook · 06/09/2012 09:08

Morning golden. Have you made the appointment yet?
