To want to have a shower without my DC peering at me through the screen?

They have the ability to completely ignore me when I'm in the same room as them, or asking them to do something such as tidying up some toys, so how come the shower is so fascinating?

Neither of them wants to come in the shower with me, just peer at me!

Lock the bathroom door?

Somehow showers seem to act like magnets...in our house the cat always comes in and miaows plaintively when DW has one!

valiumredhead · 05/09/2012 11:45

Lock the door. I always have.

LauraShigihara · 05/09/2012 11:47

Bosoms and bums are very interesting though. And watching someone wash them is even better. Like watching telly, really.

Lock the door if you dislike having an audience.

I get this too. My four year old will scream and bang on the door if I lock him out. Best show in the house, apparently.

greenhill · 05/09/2012 12:01

I'm a wimp about door locking as they bang on the door and shout for me. I try to ignore it but end up rushing what I'm doing and not rinsing the conditioner off etc.

YANBU, I feel your pain. Not only do I end up with at least two of my kids peeking at me, but they then think it's hilarious to shout "LOOK, MUM'S NAAAAAKEED!!!" and giggle at me. I can't close the door though because the light in the bathroom has broken (wiring not bulb) and as there is no window because it's an ensuite, I have to keep the door open to let the natural light in.

I'm going to start showering at 6am while they're still asleep!

greenhill · 05/09/2012 12:29

If I shower when they are still asleep the motor/ water noise wakes them up, so it is ok during term time, as they'd have to be up anyway.

But if I have a shower while they are eating their breakfast I worry about my 2 yo DS ramming everything in his mouth and making choking noises, he has form on that one...

I am a single parent so have no privacy of any kind, ever. Fortunately we are now past the stage where I had to wash my hair with one hand because the other hand was holding the shower door shut to keep my 10mo from crawling in. That was a fun stage Grin. Now we are at the "mummy why do you have a big bottom" stage.

Ilovedaintynuts · 05/09/2012 12:36

It's the running commentary that gets me.

"mum, why is your bum so wobbly?"
" mum why have you got two boobs?"
"mum what are the brown lumps on your boobs?"
"mum why is your foofoo all hairy?
"mum why is my foofoo not hairy"

SHUT UP!!!!!!!

FutureNannyOgg · 05/09/2012 12:38

Mine wants to join me too, then sits on my feet when I try to wash.
