or is it just neighbours in my street ?
I was bought up with parents who respected their neighbours and 8pm my Dad would down tools and keep noise to a minimum . In my street (a long cul de sac) its 11pm and kids are still out playing football , parents are talking every night on their gardens and shouting at the kids . This is most nights .
I can't wait for winter so it rains come bedtime ,then I can get some peace when trying to sleep!

Meh!

It's the end of what little summer we've had...it'll all change soon enough.

My neighbours are all lovely.

Well, there's a difference between the noise coming from people socialising outside, enjoying a bit of nice weather and the noise of late night DIY.... If it's the former then grab a bottle of wine and go and join then, if it's the latter maybe ask them to stop?

I have an aggressive neighbour who thinks it's his right to do DIY at all hours of the day or night, week day or weekend. With bizarre music playing far too loudly.

As for the kids playing football, well, it's a bit annoying, but isn't it better they were doing that than hanging round on street corners?

I keep doing rain dances so I can get some sleep. Grin

My neighbours delight in kicking a football in to my fence and wall and windows and doors. Lovely! Then they moan when my dog barks because of it.

So your dad set an 8pm limit? And you now expect the rest if the world to confirm with that too?

getmeoutofthismadhouse · 05/09/2012 00:07

well perhaps its old fashioned to think that kids should really be in bed at 11pm not playing out , especially seeing as its first day back at school in the morning .

My neighbours are all nice and considerate. I could ask the majority of them for help if I needed it.

Unfortunately, one immediate nieghbour has just sold their house so I hope my nice nieghbour luck holds out.

NotAnAxeMurderer · 05/09/2012 02:26

Why on earth would neighbours be less considerate now than they were of yesteryear?

Are you one of those people who say 'kids these days!'? Grin

PigletJohn · 05/09/2012 02:37

arrrrrrr, nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Mine are great. If anything, i'm the noisy inconsiderate mare of my street. I don't mean it, Where I lived before my neighbours were partying until late so I didn't have to be quiet, and my daughter is deaf so no danger of waking her up. (Neighbours did once though, their music was so loud it vibrated my floor and woke her!). I got used to not having to think about my noise level and sometimes forget.

I have told my neighbours that when I am loud they absolutely must come and tell me, as otherwise I won't realise I'm causing a problem. They seem pretty cool about it and have no problem nipping round to tell me if I've made a racket!

I have a horrible next door.. Parties from 11am to 2am, kids who climb my fence and break it, Get stared at if I go into my own garden, shouted at for asking one of the children to stop tormenting my large dogs. 4 Kids bouncing away on a trampoline at stupid times like 6am on a Sunday!! This may then finish at 11pm!! The kids play in the road and wont move to let cars go past, play hide and seek around the parked cars scratching them all. 4 of us are trying to get something done about this one house..
