To want an 'emergency' course?

Does a course (like, one evening a week or something) exist where you can learn first aid, but also things like how to deal with fires, floods, dangerous dogs, lost children, gas leaks etc?

Or am I just a bit too pessimistic for real life?

You need the big yellow 'what to do in an emergency' book from readers digest!

fridayfreedom · 03/09/2012 20:39

Think the red cross do parents first aid courses

FringeEvent · 03/09/2012 20:40

I haven't a clue about courses, but this book might be of interest?

ObiWan · 03/09/2012 20:40

That sounds as though it ought to be a flagship course at the Mumsnet Academy.

A Zombie Plan.

Become a PCSO? They are trained to deal with random stuff, I think.

Anyway, the correct response to most of the things on your list is to call 999 or 101.

You don't really need to do anything, unless you have a raging hero complex Grin.

degutastic · 03/09/2012 20:45

actually I'd like that too, though I'd probably still panic like a wally in an actual situation!

MrsKeithRichards · 03/09/2012 21:54

The readers digest book I remember told you what to do when attacked (stiletto in the eye), what to do if your caught in a riot, if someone is electrocuted (poke them with a wooden pole) it was fab!

Noqontrol · 03/09/2012 21:59

Sounds like a good idea. You could do a first aid course. Im sure theres courses for the rest of it too.

MrsKeithRichards · 03/09/2012 22:02

I fancy a kind of 'being a grown up' course.

BrittaPerry · 03/09/2012 22:24

Keith - I think I need one too!

A couple of months ago, my house flooded and I had no idea what to do. I had to ring my dad for instructions Blush

You've hit the nail on the head:
Too mild for 999?
Call 101.

Too mild for 101?
Call DH

DH too stupid / inexperienced at work?
Call Dad Grin
