or aibu? 2 weeks ago complained to police on 101 number about all night rave up at neighbours. they said theyd 'make a note of it' but didnt send anyone. last night 4 drunk yobs outside falling against someones car, throwing beer cans, shouting, (yet it seems Im the only 1 in street with ears , btw) and then the disgusting exposure of one of them as they peed in my driveway...not theirs, mine. i shouted 'oy' out the window to no avail. this is after midnight btw. phone police again, and they said same thing. so said id call 999 and they said no cos its not an emergency. desecrating my property, indecent exposure and damaging someones car isn't a crime? same with env health. is it me or does anyone else if and when they call these people it falls on deaf ears?

Bandy together as a neighbourhood? Organise a neighbourhood watch? Anti-social behaviour is best dealt with as 'us' (the majority) saying 'no way' to the minority. I lived in a block of flats with one household causing problems returning from the pub late at night whilst being very noisy. We acted as a group to talk to them and explain how their actions were anti- social. Sorted.

Why can't they have the power to come out (if they aren't dealing with an emergency) and fine the person who is making the noise? Or if it remains under the control of the council they should have greater power because they way it is at the moment the process takes a long time and there's no real incentive to stop the behaviour for a long time. It's also very easy for it to become a police matter. I had my neighbours threaten to kick my head in when I asked them to turn music down. Community police came round for a word eventually. We then got constant harassment from them in the street which involved police. They rented and received housing benefit, council housing department and landlord didn't want to know at all. It is so hard to live with, it pushed my marriage to near breaking point.

So what happened when you called Environmental Health?

I have a boy who is 10 with asd & brain damage and he still needs to learn that this shit goes on and how to deal with it and that is not by calling 999 !
