You know what I mean. Used teaspoons left on the draining board. Dirty plates dumped where clean ones will be going.

Just a general tea break AIBU to want to grab visitors who do this by the collar and scream "YOU FUUUUUUUUUUUCKWIIIIIIIIIIIIIT T! "in their face?

This issue makes me really quite cross.

YANBU to be annoyed - it is obvious which is the dirty side and which is the clean side.

Hopeforever · 02/09/2012 10:21

Grin YABU - you should make the tea for visitors in your home - how un-hostesslike of you that they have to make their own!

JeezyOrangePips · 02/09/2012 10:21

Wow. I detect a smidgen of an overreaction.

Are you currently under a lot of stress?

and please put tea bag in food waste/bin, don't leave ON THE SINK ffs

poachedeggs · 02/09/2012 10:24

Teabag on the sink!

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 02/09/2012 10:25

my in laws do this
The draining board is for clean things to DRAIN - clue's in the name
So why do you make a little space to put your dirty teacup (when there are usually other, obvously dirty teacups at the other side of the sink too!!)

poachedeggs · 02/09/2012 10:32

I have a huge draining rack to try and fend off these weirdos but they're so determined they'll shove it to one side in order to accommodate their soiled crockery, or worse sometimes even put it IN said rack. It makes me seethe just thinking about it.

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 02/09/2012 10:33

I'm impressed you are surrounded by people who know where the sink is

Badgerina · 02/09/2012 11:33

DH does this. He also never wipes out the sink and clean side draining board before washing up!! AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

McHappyPants2012 · 02/09/2012 11:34

i have a dishwasher so the dirty dishes go on the draining board.

Softlysoftly · 02/09/2012 11:37

Annoying yes, also annoying is dirty dishes on the dishwasher, bend down ffs just bend down!!

And don't get me started on bin lids left open....

AllPastYears · 02/09/2012 11:52

My mum does this in her own house. She dumps dirty spoons and knives in the drainer, then washes them up and puts them back in the drainer Confused. When I visit I have to wash cutlery and clean the kitchen before I can cook Hmm.

Well me too but I get the stuff out of the dishwasher and leave it to drain Blush. Doesn't everyone?

ErikNorseman · 02/09/2012 12:18

YAnbu it's bonkers. I had a lodger who did that Angry

ErikNorseman · 02/09/2012 12:19

Stealth the dishes drain in the dishwasher! You really take them out to stack them on the draining board?

StealthPolarBear · 02/09/2012 12:20

Just things like the sippy cps which come out still damp. And wooden spoons.

StealthPolarBear · 02/09/2012 12:21

And not everything goes in the dishwasher - I was some glasses etc and they drain on the draining board too

whiskyfudge · 02/09/2012 12:21

I have a wee bowl for teabags on the windowsill because we are composters. I go NUTS when people put them in the bin.

SleepyFergus · 02/09/2012 12:40

Stealth I'm with you. All the sippy cups and ikea plastic kids bowls etc come out dishwasher wet so need to dry on draining board. Annoys me a bit but c'est la vie.

DoMeDon · 02/09/2012 12:51

YANBU- I hate this! And why put stuff in the sink when you can just take an extra second an put it in dishwasher. Teaspoons do not need to be chucked in the sink, neither do tea bags, coffee pods or tissues (WTAF)

MyLastDuchess · 02/09/2012 13:15

I swear this is one of the great mysteries of life. To me, the greatest joy of having a dishwasher is not having to stare at the dirty dishes sitting on the kitchen counter. My partner prefers to dump them all on the counter/in the sink, complete with leftover food, old tea bags or whatever, and then a few days later put them in a dishwasher. Confused
