To think this cherub was sexually harassed?

Another Celebrity Big Brother one sorry but this has been plaguing me for days.

During the "gods" task the gods had cherubs to serve them, models male and female in tiny pants. Julie Goodyear cud chewing hag said "can I touch the cherubs?" she then proceeded to stroke the mans bottom, inner thigh and close to his balls. She then made him peel and hold a banana to his crotch while she simulated oral sex.

He looked clearly uncomfortable, his role was to serve and not speak, he was live on television with a group of celebrities, doing his "job" and I feel in a very weak position while someone in a position of power abused that.

I might be BU but in RL if a female was fondled in such a way in a setting that made it very difficult for her to object that would be harassment in the workplace yes?

Again I might be BU but this has left me a bit sickened and angry.

Grin my dh keeps saying she looks like Jimmy Saville.

YABU for watching such exploitative, pathetic, pointless, lowest common denominator ballbaggery.

And then bleating on here about it.

Most TVs have an 'Off' switch. Maybe locate yours?

fridakahlo · 02/09/2012 02:12

Sounds like sexual harrasment to me, why the desperate for attention wanna be slebs contestants were not told they couldn't touch the cherubs, is beyond me.
N.B it has been several years since I have watched any form of reality television for reasons similar to the ones stated in the opening post.

I apologise bunny I hadn't realised there was a highbrow restriction limit on AIBU, I shall refer myself immediately to the talk rules. But just as a précis is QI of an appropriate level or should I be hovering closer to the "Sky at Night" mark?

And is there a pre-approved level of personal dilemma? Do I need a ecological earth affecting AIBU or would an issue that just fits "personal problem" be ok as it can be classed as sociological?? Can you also let me know the names of the official forum "Intellectual Enforcement" badge holders so that my poor mind, dulled and softened by years of brain candy tv, chicklit and heat magazine (I blame an early intro into More magazines position of the week) will not be fooled by impostors. Thank you truly for helping me learn the boundaries between "worthy" and "bleating".

Truly, thank you Thanks

Wow Bunny there's a TV off switch? Who knew? Hmm

The OP isn't 'bleating' about the show, she's asking if anyone else thinks Julie Goodyear was sexually harassing the Cherub.

Nancy66 · 02/09/2012 10:49

She's 'orrible. A miracle she's still with us, considering she made a small fortune peddling the 'i've only got a year to live' story about 8 years ago.

lolaflores · 02/09/2012 10:55

nancy66 she has been flogging that about, I remember?
Apparently she would give journalists a hard time if they did not arrive bearing gifts for the harridan before deigning to talk to them.

The diva act is tedious,

Nancy66 · 02/09/2012 10:57

lola - yes, that's true.

Her manager tells the journo that they have to bring a gift and makes a few suggestions - then Julie does the whole 'ohhh my darling you should have' routine when they meet.

takingiteasy · 02/09/2012 10:59

That's sick and yes she does look like Jim'll Fix it.

lolaflores · 02/09/2012 11:01

Is it possible she is Denise Welch's embarrasing older aunty? They may well be cut from the self same cloth...cheap, wrinkly and leopard skin. At least JG keeps her top down.

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 02/09/2012 11:05

Dear God, that was excruciating viewing. I don't know whether Martin Kemp was genuinely amused or laughing in embarrassment.

But as to the OPs question was the cherub sexually harassed, that a difficult call. We all have different tolerance level to different things and different people.

To put that in perspective, I worked with a bloke in his 50's, universally adored by all the office girls. If he wanted your attention when you were working he'd reach out, absent mindedly and tap your wrist. Certainly no intent of sexual or inappropriate touching at all. One girl didn't like it, I guess it infringed on her personal space and she yelled at him one day that he was always "maulling" her. TBH the rest of us were shocked at her out burst. But she would have been within her rights to make a complaint about him if she so wished.

So back to the cherub, for all we know, in RL he might be a rent boy/Hollister model/porn star/into older women (or necrophelia in Julie Goodyears case) but he wasn't moving away or flinching when she was rubbing his backside.

Good point up the thread though - men generally wouldnt be seen to letch and grope girls these days, not if they wanted a semblance of a career after the show - but yet we're all being quite derogatory about Julie Goodyear (me included) - would we have laughed if one of the younger girls were touching up the cherub? Are we reviled because of JG's age?

Birdsgottafly · 02/09/2012 11:06

He will be in all of the trashy press that is what they really sign up for, publicity and to make contacts, JG knows people in the business, she is a good contact to make, as well as the others he will, once he gets the extra publicity.

There has been bullying from males towards females on other cleb BB's, George Galloway was terrible for this and no-one picked upon it, so, tbh, i don't think that you are right about it wouldn't happen the other way round without a fuss.

MyDogShitsMoney · 02/09/2012 11:21

A bit of sick came up then.

I haven't seen any CBB this time, now i'm really glad I haven't.

That was fucking vile. I was expecting a quick grope (not that that would have been acceptable either) but to just lie there stroking his arse like it's normal. Bleurgh.

How long did it go on for? Ew, that poor guy, that's made me shudder.
