Most people I know can't wait for their children to go back to school but I will really miss my daughter, I love her company she is funny and good company. Her little sister loves having her about too.

perfectly reasonable. i'll miss my daughter, too. i'm the one who gets to go back to school - she stays at home with her baby :).

BoSho · 01/09/2012 20:17

YANBU. That's really nice. I have a pre-schooler, so no school yet, but I love having him around - he's great. We get on really well and I'm genuinely enjoying spending time with him. I'd be gutted if he had to go to school on a Monday. Maybe it's an age thing though. I remember what a nightmare me and my sister were when we were teenagers though. Not sure I'd have wanted to spend 6 weeks with us then!

tethersend · 01/09/2012 20:24

Ive mixed feelings about DD going back to nursery too. I'm partly sad and partly dancing a jig, dropping to my knees and punching the air with joy.

Gumby · 01/09/2012 20:26

It's only 6 hours though
Plenty of time to see her from 3pm onwards!!

Brandnewbrighttomorrow · 01/09/2012 20:28

Two back to school and littlest one starting nursery

There's going to be a lump in my throat next week for sure. I still can't quite believe that I'm going to have two whole mornings a week child free Shock

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/09/2012 20:28

I agree, we've had a wonderful summer together and I'll miss DD once she goes back. After school she plays with her brothers/goes to Rainbows etc so I often feel like I don't really see her in the week. Roll on half term Grin

marriedinwhite · 01/09/2012 20:45

Ooh when my baby started school I had to tell a neighbour I couldn't be the back up for a delivery because I didn't know if I'd be able to go home. I didn't go home - went to a friend's whose baby also started on the same day. We had coffee and a liquor in the autumn sunshine. It made us brave so we opened a bottle of bubbly and had finished it by 10.30 Grin.

Lovely post OP. Hope she enjoys school and you are pleased to see her at hometime. She will always be lovely - loved ones tend to be.

YANBU!

I'm very mixed about it. DD is going into year 1 so this is the first time we have had this "going back to school" thing.

The hols have gone TOO quick but today was literally the first day we have had to stay in PJs in front of the telly (not ALL day of course, but YKWIM)... I could tell we were both getting bored by the end of it lol...

Noqontrol · 01/09/2012 20:59

Dd is starting school on Monday. I am sad as I will miss her, but I know she's going to have a great time. And she's really looking forward to it as well, which helps. On the plus side for me, it will give me some one to one time with her neglected baby brother.

mosschops30 · 01/09/2012 21:01

Sorry dont get it!
I love my dcs to bits but i dont want them home all day every day!

MarianForrester · 01/09/2012 21:03

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 01/09/2012 21:03

YANBU I love having dd around and really miss her when she's back in school.

Shazjack1 · 01/09/2012 21:17

Me too. Ds starts high school on Tuesday and I'm totally gutted. Love having him here all the time. My friends are the total opposite and can't wait for them to go back to school, they think I'm weirdSad

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 01/09/2012 21:24

I think my DD will want to go back to school to get away from her younger brother Grin They share a room and are only 17 months apart in age. He has driven her crazy at times. They're age 3 & 5.

But YANBU at all. I imagine if I had two children who argued less or just DD, I'd never ever want her to go back to school.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 01/09/2012 21:24

This is such a lovely contrast to the long thread of mums moaning and whinging that they're bored and fed up with their children's company! YADNBU.

AnotherTeacherMum · 01/09/2012 23:35

I'm quite sad summer is coming to an end. It's just nice to have them to ourselves and set our own agenda for a bit.

The dc are excited about going back now, especially since they got their new shoes, lunch bags etc last week.

I've really enjoyed summer. I start full time on Monday for the first time since before dc were born. Mixed feelings about that. They are 4 and 5 now. All change I guess...

maybeyoushoulddrive · 01/09/2012 23:58

Oh I'm so glad it's not just meSmile We've had a lovely summer together, I feel like I've got to know her properly again (she's 9) as during term time everything is always a rush and a panic, there doesn't seem time just to relax and talk.

But she is looking forward to going back and seeing her friends which is nice too...

TroublesomeEx · 02/09/2012 07:58

YANBU.

I've got one going into year 9 and one going into year 2.

I'm going to miss both of them when they go back this week.

This summer has been great. Money's been a bit tighter this year so I haven't put them in for the same number of clubs/activities, but they've just been so great together. A few little niggles but on the whole they're as thick as thieves and it's been lovely.

fuzzpig · 02/09/2012 08:06

I'm happy that term is starting - DD going into yr1 and DS starting his 15hrs nursery. I'm more happy for them though, they just aren't getting enough stimulation at home and DD is really missing her friends. I've been ill the whole holidays and DH is on crutches waiting for surgery in a few weeks. This summer has been completely shit. I feel really guilty as they've pretty much been stuck indoors driving each other mad and watching DVDs. They are better off at school.

alittlebitshy · 02/09/2012 08:10

My 2 are very keen. They have had 8 weeks and had had enough by week 6.

I will miss them (and no 6.30am starts) but am keen to get routine going again.

Nagoo · 02/09/2012 08:25

I'll miss DS.

Can't wait for DH to go back so I can get my routine back again
