Seems that it's a dirty word on mumsnet lately.

In Ireland it's called Penneys and people love it (I think!)

Anway, just wondered if you think it's awful why is it awful?

*Aimed at a different market or have a different target market. Those are less tautologous.

I've just been reading through the Primark Code of Conduct. Sounds good, but they confirm on another page that they source from China. Trade unions are banned in China, are they not? I read that. Which means that the bit about allowing "collective bargaining" in their Code of Conduct definitely cannot apply in any Chinese third party factories.

Primark is branded as Penneys in Ireland as far as I know - it started in Dublin then branched out as Primark into the UK and Europe. A bit like WhatYouLookingAt said Grin.

I'm in Belfast and I've heard that the one in the town gets the best stock as it is the best of both worlds Grin PS they used to change stock on a Thursday morning - don't know if they still do but that was always the best time to go Wink

Is it Pree-mark or Pry-mark? That's the most important issue!

wigglesrock · 02/09/2012 22:45

Preemark - I have lost many friends over this Grin

I too shop at Primark sometimes, and always leaves me feeling bad. I know exactly where the stuff comes from. Yes, it's from the same sweatshops that make clothes for H&M, Zara etc but that doesn't make it OK IMO.

My mother says Pree. Husband and MIL insist it's Pry. I change pronunciation according to whom I'm with!

Seasalt (ethical trading company) have t-shirts on sale. £10 instead of £20.
