Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but I've seen the help MN can give and I'm hoping for a bit of help. My brief - to find 10 songs suitable for my DDs party tomorrow. All we have is DH 's iPod which his stacked full of his Metal and has all the usual albums we al bought in our teens/twenties in the 1990s and since. It's also remarkable how much stuff you'd think was a shoe in is actually totally unsuitable - Mumford & Sons has to be approached with care. So far I've got Chas N Daves Rabbit, and I'm Not Scared. Ooh and I think Walking On Sunshine might be in there. Im not sure Billy Bragg will quite cut it on the dance ability front. Any safe recommendations you think we might have? Taking the piss is also allowed. I'm not taking this too seriously.

FutTheShuckUp · 31/08/2012 16:17

Or bat out of hell by meatloaf if MIL is attending

TittyWhistles · 31/08/2012 16:41

That one, "Bonkers" by Dizzy Rascal

Or any happy hardcore that'll get them sweating out all that sugar.

I love watching 4 year olds bombing about to music, can I come?

Dogsmom · 31/08/2012 16:45

My husbands 5 year old used to love Monster by the Automatic

CleoSmackYa · 31/08/2012 16:49

My daughter loves the Foo Fighters, if you have them.

missymoomoomee · 31/08/2012 16:49

For my kids parties I set up you tube playlists the day before, saves me buying any music just for parties.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 31/08/2012 16:52

Got any AC/DC on there? 'For Those About To Rock' always goes down well here. As does 'Back in Black.'

Rock and Roll too; 'Great Balls of Fire' etc etc.

Thinking 90s... Ash? Girl from Mars? Too indie?

mamamibbo · 31/08/2012 18:36

the ramones, blitzkrieg bop, my 2 and 3 year old love it

GnocchiNineDoors · 31/08/2012 18:39

Right on time

drjohnsonscat · 31/08/2012 18:52

Anything by Queen esp what my DCs call "we will wock you"

"You can call me Al"

DCs love "Hit me with your rhythm stick"

Thinking of 90s - Supergrass "Alright"

rogersmellyonthetelly · 31/08/2012 18:59

You need ones with actions and where the grown ups know the dance so they can lead. Birdie song is good, superman, agadoo, conga and the Macarena are good. They will all dance along, do the actions very badly and have a ball. Okiekokie is good too!

WelshMaenad · 31/08/2012 19:01

My six year old really likes Nirvana, especially 'smells like teen spirit'. Also Jump Around by house of pain #superduperinappropriate

duke748 · 31/08/2012 19:07

Less Than Jake- the science of selling yourself short
The white stripes- fell in love with a girl
Wheezer- Buddy Holly
Barenaked ladies- if i had a million dollars

Ash- girl from mars

Hope this helps!

This is amazing! Better than I could have hoped for! GPs baby sitting so as soon as DD asleep we are off to the pub to distill what we can from your choice suggestions. Gil then, keep them coming. Remember, theres quite a lot of NWBHM on DHs iPod. I've only recently learned that acronym
