To think Norman Price needs more than a telling off from Dilys?

So I'm just being forced to sit through yet another episode of Fireman Sam, this time a feature length episode called 'The Great Fire of Pontypandy', Norman Price ignored express orders from Station Officer Steele & Sam not to start a campfire and started a forest fire that threatened to take out Pontypandy.

When it came out what he had done, Dilys just shook her finger at him and said he was a naughty boy and she would deal with him.

He nearly wiped out an entire town FFS!

So yes other than the fact that I need to get a life and switch the tv off a bit more AIBU in wanting to give Norman Price the little fucker a bit more discipline than a finger waggle?

Mandy has her moments, too. She's often leading the others astray.

albertswearengen · 31/08/2012 16:19

Willnevergetalicence- exactly I can't understand why noone else can see it.
A great episode would be fire at the town hall when Sam and Tom are celebrating their civil partnership or the bus taking them home after the reception crashes as Dilys has had one too many sherries and distracts Trevor while inveigling him to get hitched themselves.

DrSeuss · 31/08/2012 16:25

Dh is half Welsh and NO ONE in Wales that I've ever met speaks with the Pontypandy screech. Why must everyhing be so high pitched?

Panzee · 31/08/2012 16:28

DrSeuss They're probably all on a high state of alert due to the number of emergencies. Their collective blood pressure must be higher than Tom Thomas' helicopter!

I feel sorry for Norman when Trevor gets stuck on the zip wire. He does absolutely nothing wrong in that episode apart from getting annoyed with Trevor for being in charge, losing the map and forgetting the picnic. And yet he ends up apologising at the end, not sure what for.

LimburgseVlaai · 31/08/2012 16:32

What about Spud then?

Spud is constantly breaking people's stuff, terrorising Lofty, ruining the harvest - and all he gets is a "Now now Spud" from Bob.

They should rip his head off!

Triggles · 31/08/2012 17:36

Yes Panzee I hardly think it's Norman's fault that Trevor goes on the zip wire and gets stuck.

firemansamisnormansdad · 31/08/2012 18:29

Fireman Sam IS Norman's Dad. We should see the 18 spin off version like they do in Hollyoaks where Sam and Dilys have a dirty weekend in Tenby.

BenedictsCumberbitch · 31/08/2012 20:09

Panzer to be fair he gets away with murder the rest of the time so I figure if he apologises for a few things he didn't do it goes a ways to evening things up Smile

Panzee · 31/08/2012 20:14

Murder? Is there a Pontypandy Late I'm not watching? :o

Tee2072 · 31/08/2012 20:22

My son loves Fireman Sam. He will be watching and I'll be in the kitchen and he'll come running in to tell me there's a fire.

'In Pontypandy? How unusual!' I always reply. He laughs.

He's 3.2. Even he knows how ridiculous the show is!!

RosesAreBetter · 31/08/2012 21:57

If it was a RL town (ignoring that there only seems to be a dozen or so residents) Norman Price would have been chased out of town years ago.

I don't mind watching kids shows, but when they are illogical it really irritates me.
Like why does PP have a fire station, lifeboat service and mountain rescue station, but not apparent ambulance or police services?
That's not counting Nurse whatshername who wears her uniform 24/7 but doesn't actually seem to have an actual job.

Why does no one ever mention that Trevor used to be a fireman?
What ever happended to mamas pizzeria?

And don't get me started on fucking lammykins.

DS used to be obsessed with FS, he still enjoys it occasionally. :S

OAM2009 · 31/08/2012 22:09

I think we need to make a distinction between "old" Plasticicine-type models FS and "new" CGI FS.

IMHO, Old FS was much better - and as Roses above said - typical South Wales Italian cafe, Fireman Trevor and slightly less annoying voices.

New FS - how does a town in the SW Valleys suddenly get a beach, a harbour and a lifeboat???? And I lived in said SW Valleys for nearly 10 years and the accent is NOT so high-pitched and whiny! or I would have been driven to mindless violence about 2 years in

And 2+2 - Norman Price gets away with arson, has ginger hair (like his ever-present rescuer) and Mam is a single mum with no explanantion ever of who or where Norman's Dad is! No wonder he's an ASBO case!!!! Wink

BenedictsCumberbitch · 31/08/2012 22:19

I suppose if Norman wasn't around then I guess the fire station would be pretty redundant.

QuangleWangleQuee · 31/08/2012 22:31

Norman Price has now grown up and is teaching Acting and Theatre studies in Queensland. here

OAM2009 · 01/09/2012 20:53

Quangle, Dear God, time has not been kind!!! Shock he looks so jaded! but then when every day is a life-threatening emergency requiring air support, it's eventually going to tell on you....

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/09/2012 08:36

Ha ha that is unreal. Same sulky face.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 02/09/2012 13:18

I hate Spud!

Doingakatereddy · 02/09/2012 13:26

Pontypandy is A-typical of the need for severe public sector cuts. We are talking about an adult population of 6, with 3 children who are rescued by a fire service crew (include hot mountain rescue blokes) of 6.

You do the maths. Give Norman an ASBO, give Dilys some Prozac, get HSE on the idiotic handyman, cut Bob's brothers fishing quota & Bobs your Uncle you can cut public services to a minimum.

I bloody hate Fireman fucking Sam & DS (pfb) sodding loves it

BigHairyFlowers · 03/09/2012 22:23

Gah. I think I must know The Great Fire Of Pontypandy off by heart. The bit where Mike Flood keeps going up and down the lighthouse, I just want someone to push him off the top (and NOT call Sam).

I do actually love the original Fireman Sam though, before all the drastic coastal erosion and the air turned to helium. Norman wasn't that naughty before. I felt sorry for him.

Liketochat1 · 03/09/2012 22:29

That child has been getting on my nerves for 8 years. He's rude, badly behaved and a brat. Heaven knows why he's seen so fondly by the folk of
Linty Andy, he's nearly killed them all several times over.

Liketochat1 · 03/09/2012 22:30

Linty Andy? Ponty pandy!

GothAnneGeddes · 03/09/2012 23:20

I've been crying laughing reading this, even read it out to DH who agreed.

Norman is an utter shite!

We have the triple pack dvd, but it seems to have fallen out of favour (yay!) and Tiny Pop is the new love (boo!).

milkymocha · 03/09/2012 23:30

Hate Norman Price with a passion!
His mother needs a slap.

Loved when he got stuck in the giant cake!
1 millionth customer? Must be a secret 18-30 holiday resort Wink

God i hate Fireman Sam.
