To think this mother is too soft on pushing?

My DS, almost 3 is friends with a boy about 2.5 and the little boy is always pushing my son. My Ds is a gentle soul and never pushes anyone but is not a wimp. Anyway, the mother of pushy child only ever says '... it's not nice to push, please stop pushing.' There is no change of tone in her voice and that's it. If my child was pushing other children (and this kid stares the other kids straight in the eyes and pushes them hard enough for them to lose balance) I'd be very clear and firm and there would be consequences such as having to leave early and I'd follow through. It's getting to the point where I feel I might bend down and say now look here pushy child. Anyway, am I very old fashioned?? Is it ok to let toddlers go about pushing and shoving, the mother seems to almost think it's cute!!! We can't avoid pushy child as he goes to lots of same activities.

I think I would probably intervene, I've done so before when I see a children being pushed about by other children, even when I don't know them or their parents. I don't think I've upset anyone by doing this, no-one has complained about it anyway.

Where did it go???? Maybe it was so bloody boring nobody replied

Ha ha I think we know the same child! This has happened recently with a friend of mine who has a 'pushy' DS. Other (mutual) friends now avoid her and DS as their DC get hunted down and pushed / grabbed in the face etc. It's sad to see, but infuriating as she does NOTHING to stop him, apart from saying 'no pushing'.

YANBU.

Say something go the boy in a firm voice

Mums who say 'oh no pushing' in a little soft voice really annoy me. Tell them firmly!
