To NOT buy my 8yo a bra?

She wants one. She wants one because my sister told her she needed one Hmm Angry

She has teeny, tiny, little breast buds. Not enough to warrant them needing any support.

My sis thinks she will be bullied at school for being the first to have breasts. Surely being the first to have a bra would make a her a target even more so?

I'm thinking crop tops will suffice for now, if dd1 really feels she needs to cover herself? She probably doesn't even have enough to actually have a bra size.

DD1 had crop tops from age 9, she is now 11 and is in a 34A - but she's a tall 11yo and developing a figure, and she really does need the support, it's not just buds.

DD2 is 9 and nothing yet, she wears crop tops because she doesn't want to feel left out which is fine by me.

I'd be Angry at your sister too. Girls have enough to feel insecure about without an adult adding to it.

YANBU. I would say a cropped vest is fine at this stage, you can get several that have no bra shape to them at all. This is what DD had around that age.

Dd is now 10y and does have a bra - but that is because she needs one. When it was time - around DD's birthday, so just about to turn 10y - I took her and had her measured and went from them there. I wasn;t going to buy one without her being measured and being actually big enough for one.

Your sister needs a serious talking to. I'd be pissed off if someone made my kids feel self conscious like that.

If your daughter wants one maybe look into the crop top type ones, I doubt you'd get an actual bra to fit her anyway.
