To ask - what would be your perfect day off?

Basing this over another thread I saw and started fantasising what I would realistically do with a whole day off.

Come on ladies - 1 whole day! Not doing anything round the house at all. If you had a whole day off from the moment you woke up to when you go to bed that night - what would you do.

Obviously wishes of Ryan Gosling etc aside. mmmmmm Wink

I would have a lie in (anything after 6am is a lie in). I would go to the gym, browse a few shops in town, get my nails done & my hair cut, grab lunch to eat at home. Watch tv, run a really hot bath, candles, face mask, music etc and lay in it for an hour. I would then put on my pj's - order pizza & watch even more tv.

Heaven. Smile

What you said but with reading instead of TV. It would be nice to just savour the silence...

A 6 hour walk in the Lake District ( good weather of course) followed by a lovely hearty dinner somewhere cosy. Then the hot bath! Bliss..

AbsofAwesomeness · 30/08/2012 10:14

YANBU to ask. Go for it, though AIBU isn't really the place

If I had a day off, I would sleep in for a LONG time. Then someone (I don't know who) would bring me a breakfast in bed of choccocino (hot chocolate with espresso in it) and french toast with fresh fruit. I'd then have a nice long lovely bath, then go out (where it is bright and sunny and warm) go do some nice browsing at various shops, go to an art gallery or two. Then lunch with DH somewhere nice and outside with chilled white wine. After that, a nice nap (I may be a bit sleep deprived at the moment), then more wondering around, hang out at a coffee shop reading then drinks with friends, a lovely dinner and maybe a show or movie. In the meantime, someone would also have changed the sheets on the bed everytime, so I can sleep on freshly laundered sheets.

Oooo, no housework, meetings, kids to run after... wow!

I would have a long lie (up around 7.30!) then go spend the morning wandering about the museum followed by a sit in the park with lunch and a good book :) A look around the shops (and peace to try things on) then home for a lovely hot bath and to finish my book!

I didn't really know where else to post this Smile

I see the hot bath is popular - am i not the only one that seems to have to be content with a quick 3 minute shower then?

I last tried to have the bath described above about 6 months ago. It was about 9pm, DS was asleep and very rarely wakes in the night - maybe once a month.

I got in, closed my eyes, enjoyed the music etc for 2 minutes, heard screaming and a lot of noise as DH bounds up the stairs. DS who was potty trained but in nappies at night still - had poo'd and woken up but it was actually really bad diarrhea. Cue DH walking in with DS, dripping with poo, telling me to get out of my bath. We had to add cold water and DS got my nice bath.

Paha, I laugh now but was not funny at the time!

I would have a lie in, get up and have a lazy breakfast on the balcony (that I didn't have to cook), go to a spa and have some nice treatments, meet a friend for a late lunch, do a bit of shopping or maybe catch a film at the cinema, come home to my DD bathed and fed and spend some time with her before putting her to bed, hot bath and then some good friends over for dinner (which I also didn't have to cook) and a few glasses of wine. Also while I was out I would like someone to have come in and cleaned my house. The perfect day :)

KenLeeeeeee · 30/08/2012 10:43

Have a bubble bath in peace (with no children fighting/trying to climb in!)
Take some time over doing my hair and make-up (as opposed to rushing through my make-up, trying to stop 3yo DD nicking it, then scraping my hair back in a clip)
Have a gentle meander around some nice shops (instead of having to avoid the 'nice' ones because of kids who like to run off in opposite directions and hide in the displays)
Have lunch with a friend (NOT in a kid-friendly restaurant!)
Come home for a post-lunch siesta (undisturbed and without having to move toys off my bed first!).
Get tarted up and go out dancing (nuff said).

hiddenhome · 30/08/2012 10:43

Get up and get ready
Go for a nice walk in the countryside
Visit somewhere for lunch
Return Home
Bubbly Bath
Pizza and dvd

I had my perfect day off a few weeks ago... Lie in, little run, went off with DH to a hotel. Lunch, wine, manicure, swim, jacuzzi, afternoon "nap", nice clothes, delicious dinner, bed. Incredible.

ILiveInAPineapple · 30/08/2012 10:46

Lie in, warm sunshine, lounger outside, book, nice breeze so I don't get too hot, a magical swimming pool that's not too cold, and some kind of excellent book to read while sipping a cocktail. And nobody else in sight except the cocktail waiter who doesn't speak, just brings whatever cocktail I happen to be telepathically communicating.

And chips with salt and vinegar on them for dinner!

Gumby · 30/08/2012 10:49

I'd stay in bed all day drinking proscecco and watching a box set

bubalou · 30/08/2012 10:59

ILiveInaPineapple - throw in the fact that the waiter is hot and shirtless and that may well be my perfect day too Wink

This shows how low my expectations have sunk...

A couple of years ago I had to have a day off sick from work and just spent the entire day in bed re-reading The Godfather and dozing. It was before we had DS and the dog so I didn't have to do ANYTHING. At around 7pm DH came home with double pie and chips.

I still remember it fondly now. Anyway, that's what I'd do but I'd have to be ill again otherwise I'd feel obliged to get up and hoover.

ParaOlympicpark · 30/08/2012 11:24

Oh gosh, that would be a mega treat.....!
Up and out to go shopping with my mum, lunch somewhere nice, home, bath, fall asleep in bed after bath, read book for couple of hours, get up, put nice clothes on from shopping earlier and go to the pub with mates.
Sorted. Am managing the pub bit today but sadly that is all!

Ithinkitsjustme · 30/08/2012 11:27

Bath Spa for the day with my sister, but I've got to wait for Christmas for that one! Grin
