He is 2.1 and after a slow start with speech is learning new words every day. I think it's amazing how he talks about the things he sees and thinks about and even though I haven't a clue what on earth he means most of the time.

His day is filled with miaows, mummy, daddy, woof, dinks and choose (drinks with juice), and stars and stones and sticks. Bugs and Zzzz (bees and flies), ee-og (eggs), yog-yog and "MORE!" There are quack quacks and clocks and moons, bins and choo-choos, brum brum and bums and wee-wee and Wheeee and OH NO and uh-oh and things that get Stuck! Everything has to be done Again and there are planes and cranes. 'Poons and keys and (ba)nanas and Nannas. Horseys and baaa and moooo, tweets and squeaks and cluck clucks and Eeeeee spiders and I mustn't forget the raahs and the grrrs.

How amazing to think about all those things and think they're all great. I wonder does he dream of the same things?

Yes I know I am being gushy and possibly pfb but I still think it's wonderful Grin

YANBU

But I can't help thinking he sounds like me when I'm on the Wine Grin

CrispyCod · 29/08/2012 21:29

Hard to believe we were like that once!

ObviouslyEgregious · 29/08/2012 21:30

I agree! My DS spends most of the day talking about the dogs, balls, cars and planes!

ChaoticismyLife · 29/08/2012 21:30

There are times when I'd love to know what a little one is thinking. Everything to them is so fresh and new and exciting :)

Enjoy it while he's still young.

lurkedtoolong · 29/08/2012 21:31

Awww sweet. Go on, be all pfb-ish, it's very cute

StealthPolarBear · 29/08/2012 21:31

I always wonder whether they dream in the same disjointed way. Also can't imagine how they think insidevtheir heads

BertieBotts · 29/08/2012 21:32

It's lovely Grin I found an old video I made of DS just before he started talking the other day. "Ook" he said as he todled off town the hall. "OOK!" more insistent now, with a pointing finger showing me what he'd seen.

So adorable Grin

debka · 29/08/2012 21:34

Aw that's lovely :)

My 18mo gets all jumpy up and down excited when she sees just a picture of a baa-baa, bless her little heart.

Duritzfan · 29/08/2012 21:34

aaaw Smile my dd is coming up 2 and my days are filled with words like your ds' .. Poon, phone and chocolate are her favourites .. And "again " too
The wonder of childhood - its amazing to watch :)

TheHeirOfSlytherin · 29/08/2012 21:35

I could listen to him talk all day, and he speaks like he has an opinion sometimes and what he is saying about the way the bin is sat on the drive is really important.

I fully reserve the right to deny all knowledge that I ever said anything about this in a few months when he won't shut up Grin

Its so cute isnt it? My dd is almost 2 and shouted 'uwee up mama' today (hurry up)

ds is 5 and still mispronounces somethings and notices things I dont.

They grow up too fast.

neverputasockinatoaster · 29/08/2012 22:21

My DC's Godfather once did a wonderful running commentary/voice over thing as DS cruised around their house. DS was doing his usual picking things up to inspect and then babbling to himself about them and my friend had this whole thing going with things like:
"What's this? Ah a time travel device. With this I can save the world. Look mummy... this will help us solve the environmental crisis. No, she's not looking. I'll try the tall man. Look Tall man, we can save the world with this.. No, he's no use either... Ooooo shiny..."

runamile · 29/08/2012 22:25

It is really lovely but I remember being annoyed that one of the first words my two dds said was 'dog' and they would always make such a fuss when they saw one (I can't stand dogs.)

Snog · 29/08/2012 22:28

Think of all that lack of control and frustration though...

iknowwho · 29/08/2012 22:37

I often look at my 16 year old DS and think 'what the fuck is going on in your head!!!' Grin

newtonupontheheath · 29/08/2012 22:40

Grin YANBU

DS (22mo) said to me as I got out of the bath this evening "bye bye mammy, see you soon!"

Love it

colleysmill · 29/08/2012 22:41

Amazing isn't it? :)

I'm constantly astounded by how much they remember too. Just the little things that I don't give a passing thought to are Very Important.

FunnysInLaJardin · 29/08/2012 22:41

Tis lovely. My littlest DS is like this, singing the 'little Einsteins' theme tune without knowing the words and talking about Princess Dolly off Ben and Holly, much to DS1's amusement. And all Lego is LegoStarwars although we are branching out to LegoCity.............

Nagoo · 29/08/2012 22:43

I'm sure that Baby Goo dreams of Bipits.

YANBU, it's so cute. My DS, 2 next month, is copying everything we say at the moment. Earlier, I said to him, 'I love you' and he parroted back, 'A fluff flu' Confused Grin

colleysmill · 29/08/2012 22:44

Much mourning here when ds stopped saying "pot of tea" and correctly identified a cup of tea. It's been a pot for months. And Its me! replacing a very cute It me!

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 29/08/2012 22:49

I love how my DS (18 months) talks and babbles, he is so cute. Says ta when he is trying to give you something, and ank ooo to say thank you. And Mum or Mumma all the time... Lovely :)

dobalina · 29/08/2012 23:09

I think they dream of those things. Ds 22m slept in our room at the weekend as we had guests. After we'd gone to bed he suddenly shouted tree! really happily. And then about 10 minutes later go go daddy!

He was sound asleep. We were crying with laughter into the duvet.

Posterofapombear · 29/08/2012 23:16

DD gave us all a lecture (including wagging finger) about how Pooh Bear should not be in the bathroom but in her bedroom.

I actually thought she was going to talk herself hoarse when I washed him in the bath (he was getting grubby, hence my outrageous behaviour)

She's only 1 so it was all just high speed babble!

I nearly wet myself Grin

memphis83 · 29/08/2012 23:26

My ds was so excited when he saw a field of wind turbines 'ook Daddy, wheel OOK!!!!' and today a Sainsburys lorry with bananas on the side was amazing.
He this week has started saying love you but in his own way 'ah cluuuuu' so adorable
I love how everything is so new and exciting.
