To have just started crying (in public)

Because I feel so overwhelmed and exhausted in week 11 of pregnancy?
I did scuttle to a quiet corner to sob silently so that nobody saw or heard me. (I hope...)
I am so tired that I feel I have just lost myself. No energy to be the person I was before. Overwhelmed by thought of responsibility and I can't read anything about this stage of foetus development without getting emotional (and not in a good way).
Hormones or latent insanity? Your verdicts please :(

YAsoooooooNBU.

I'm on week 14 now it's our 2nd DC and we've been trying for 2 years so it's a much much longed for and wanted pregnancy. Yet 3 weeks ago I could have written your post - it seemed like everyone expected me to be blissfully happy and serene, but I was a spotty, knackered hormonal wreck. However it does pass, I feel so much better now, I have more energy, and I'm able to tackle the weekly shop without wanting to stab other shoppers and/or burst into tears in the soup aisle!

Definitely get your iron checked.

Oh and don't listen to any "you're not ill you're only pregnant" bollocks. It is very hard on your body and you need rest.

Interesting, climbing penguin, my job is one that requires nothing BUT intense thought and writing and that's imposs when you're like a zombie... I also am self employed and work from home so have no colleagues, meetings etc to distract me. Usually I like that but right now I would kill for something to take my mind off just how bad I an feeling

I hope you feel much better soon OP. yanbu you cant help how you feel and i swear there is some kinda pregnancy hormone that makes you cry and over emotional, i used to cry for any stupid thing pretty much every day but when im not pregnant i go back to normal (mostly)

emeraldgirl1 · 29/08/2012 14:11

Cailin, the irony is that at about 6 weeks when I was still feeling human ok, I was spouting rubbish about 'pregnancy not being an illness' and saying I would carry on exactly as before!!! I still don't think it's an illness but it certainly makes you feel bloody ill!!! :)'

Good to hear its totally normal as just cried for the third time this week for such small things really. Blush am 10 weeks. I need to pull myself together!

Liketochat1 · 29/08/2012 14:25

Yanbu- I've never found pregnancy easy. I was grateful to be pregnant each time but beyond that I felt so sick that I just wanted the whole thing over ASAP. Good luck with it!

scrablet · 29/08/2012 14:29

When I was 30 weeks and still working, I one day had to send a child in to get someone else out on playground duty as the waves of emotion just overwhelmed me!
Loads of people came rushing out thinking I had gone into early labour. Nope, just those old pg hormones. They can ambush you at any stage.
Hope you feel a bit better now!
On the flip side, they can make you feel euphoric at times.

emeraldgirl1 · 29/08/2012 14:34

Damnit, sorry you're feeling the same way...

I keep telling myself things will improve soon but i know there are people who struggle throughout. The nausea is fading though so maybe that's a good sign

it will improve, not magically at 12 weeks but it will start to ease. I then had a massively productive period and wrote virtually all my PhD in a few months. The motivation of a strict deadline helps enormously there.

emeraldgirl1 · 29/08/2012 14:45

Climbing penguin, am seriously hoping the same fertile period of inspiration kicks in for me!!! Would help with my own deadline...

Zzz I love (and may steal) your username, can't even imagine how bad it must be for twins!!

Spatone is a good iron supplement in easily-absorbed liquid form.
