Rewatching series 1 on iplayer whilst on the treadmill. Laughed so hard this morning I nearly fell off. Such fun!

I find 'Miranda' to be 80% absolutely woeful and 20% extremely funny. It's an odd program. I love her mum (similarities with mine) and Gary is v dishy. Some of the writing is seriously rubbish though. I think she's massively over rated in general. My DP runs screaming from the room whenever it's on Grin

YouOldSlag · 28/08/2012 13:16

Patricia Hodge makes me laugh as my MIL always stage whispers the words "cancer", "black" and "sex"

Dawndonna · 28/08/2012 13:32

Oh, thank goodness it's not just me!
Tis a pile of shite, isn't it!

It's bloody awful. My mother insisted I watch it (she also adores Mrs Brown's Boys, I should have been warned) and got most snitty with me for not cracking a smile throughout. I liked her as the cleaner in Not Going Out, though.

degutastic · 28/08/2012 15:54

I love Miranda, I think it's comic genius. But hey, horses for courses and all that, I think most comedy on tv these days is shite.

Mind you, it helps that I can empathise strongly with her character. You know when you get nervous socially you lie to impress? Exactly, everyone does it!

Probably not funny at all if you're one of those folk who, well, doesn't!

I love watching it with DS2 (12), he laughs right from his toes. His current favourite sayings are, "Bear with, bear with..." and (in a Heather Small voice), "What have you done today to make you feel proud?"

ChessieFL · 28/08/2012 16:23

I love it. DP hates it. He is therefore banished whenever it is on so I can watch ogle Gary the chef in private

TraineeBabyCatcher · 28/08/2012 16:28

Im so so at liking Miranda, I thought she played Chummy very well in call the midwife.

Have to say, TV at the moment is just crod! Very few good programs on at the moment. I hate all the celebrity this, celebrity that quiz/game show type stuff, xfactor bores me after the first week of auditions and im not a corrie/stenders/whatevertheotheroneis fan.

tartyflette · 28/08/2012 16:28

Curate's egg, innit? But she is much better than when she was the annoying one in Not Going Out (and they replaced her with an even more annoying - and even less funny - one How was that even possible? )

theinets · 28/08/2012 16:29

I saw the show last week for first time. She's a bit like an unfunny version of Victoria wood.cringeworthy.

AlwaysHoldingOnToStars · 28/08/2012 16:32

I've just an email from BBC to apply for audience tickets for Miranda, so new series is being filmed September/October. Such fun!

Always Envy

EmmaBemma · 28/08/2012 16:37

I used to dislike her intensely, and then I saw the first bit of the first episode of series 2, I think it was, in which she sprints semi-naked down the road after a departing taxi which has her dress stuck in the door, and I laughed so much I nearly pissed out a kidney. I watched every episode after that, though have missed the first of this series. It's weird: the mugging-to-camera, the repeated jokes and the pratfall stuff is usually everything I hate, but I can't help it, I do love her.

OhLimpPricks · 28/08/2012 17:53

The new series is being filmed in September. click for BBC link to get tickets to see it being filmed

mayorquimby · 28/08/2012 18:43

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't find her remotely amusing."

You're not, it has a fairly widespread level of criticism to go along with any praise it receives.
Comedy for people without a sense of humour imo, but each to their own.
