Trying hard not to cry or reply with rude email

OnlyWantsOne · 27/08/2012 16:12

I make stuff. Thats my "hobby job".

I've given away a few vouchers for things - to use in raffles etc to friends. Some of you may even know what that is.

Any way.... I had dd3 on Thursday night. I'm
Obviously very Tiredy and pathetic as her email has made me sob.

Just checked my emails to find an email from a lady who won my voucher in a raffle. She paid £1 for a ticket and won what I would normally charge £25 for.

You never told me there was a waiting list or that you weren't working which is why i wondered where my item had got to. I expected it to take a couple of weeks to make not months!!!

This is her reply to me saying that as soon as I was back at work I would be letting her know her place on the waiting list and hoped she enjoyed her weekend.

Tell me to get a grip.

She did, headfairy. And kept badgering both the OP and the OP's mum to get her to do it, despite being told (after initially turning down the price) that the OP was too busy.
It was quite disturbing how loony she was!

Noble - that's an excellent response! Grin

MikeLitorisRings · 27/08/2012 16:44

She is being rude. If she has liked you on fb then it would have been clear you had more important things going on.

Btw. Just saw the pic, she is beautiful. Well done.

darthsillius · 27/08/2012 16:55

That reminded me about someone who won a free meal at a playgroup raffle. It had an expiry date so the restaurant would not let them use it. So the woman asked for the playgroup to pay for her meal!

OnlyWantsOne · 27/08/2012 17:04

Darth that's crazy

only I just had a look at your facebook page and your daughter and bears are gorgeous! Tell the crazy email lady to sell me her ticket for £2 and I'll have a lovely bear instead - wouldn't mind how long it took :)

Seriously, she is getting a lovely handcrafted product for ONE POUND! Hand her a grip...

geegee888 · 27/08/2012 17:55

But she's not to know you make things as a hobby? I mean, when you buy tickets for a raffle, you assume you're getting something more valuable for the ticket price if you win. Its the description of the raffle prize thats at fault surely, since she can't be expected to be a mind reader.

CaptainVonTrapp · 27/08/2012 18:17

Was it really rude of her? I think its just that thing where if she'd said it laughingly in person it would've been clear that she was genuinly surprised but is now delighted to find that she's won a really unique prize. But so much is open for interpretation in an email... Imagine her words said in a totally different tone.

YANBU though, you have a new baby, tears are never U.

epeesarepointythings · 27/08/2012 18:22

geegee I'd consider a handmade creation pretty damn valuable. Just because the OP does this part time does not mean that the things she makes are not of a professional standard. Have a Biscuit.

NotAnAxeMurderer · 27/08/2012 18:24

Those bears are gorgeous! (Sorry, I couldn't resist facestalking you).

Have bookmarked for the future.

Ignore the daft woman and enjoy your lovely baby.

GlaikitFizzog · 27/08/2012 18:26

Could someone very kindly pm me a link please?? :)

Empusa · 27/08/2012 18:29

Those are beautiful! She's an absolute idiot to be complaining after paying only a pound!

ChestyNut · 27/08/2012 18:40

Aaaaaw I want to see to! Can I have a link too

helenthemadex · 27/08/2012 20:34

she is rude ignore her, enjoy your new dd and congratulations

can I have a link please very nosey

RuleBritannia · 27/08/2012 20:42

I have every sympathy for the OP but, if she were pregnant or already had her baby when asked to donate a prize for the raffle, why did she offer a prize that she could not fulfil at the time? Obviously the current situation has to be dealt with but, if I were the prizewinner, I would expect my prize straightaway (or nearly).

If we win the Lottery, we expect our prize straightaway. If we win a tombola prize at a fair/fete, we take our prize straightaway. As for the restaurant voucher that was out of date, that was the fault of the raffle organisers so the prizewinner did right (charity or not).

ImPeppaPigOink · 27/08/2012 20:45

Can someone PM me a link please? I'm looking for a bear for DC due in February.

Congratulations on your new DD.

mummybookworm · 27/08/2012 20:46

Can someone pm me a link please? Thank you

MrsHende · 27/08/2012 20:52

I can't pm as I'm on my iPod but just wanted to say that the raffle winner is rude, your bears are fab and your daughter is beautiful!!!

Empusa · 27/08/2012 21:10

RuleBrittania She got her prize straight away, the prize was a voucher.

RuleBritannia · 27/08/2012 21:13

A voucher for what? Something she could not have so what was the point of the voucher?

Empusa · 27/08/2012 21:14

She can have it, but seeing as we are talking about a bespoke service it's never going to be instant!

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 27/08/2012 21:19

If I won a voucher for something, i would not expect to have to wait months for it. And you gave away the voucher knowing you were giving something away worth £25... can't see why the fact the winnder paid £1 for a ticket is of any consequence

ParaOlympicpark · 27/08/2012 21:28

Ohhh have looked but can't find OP s fb page. OP would you be able to pm me! (promise I won't demand one ASAP....!)
Congrats on you little baby! Smile

FrillyMilly · 27/08/2012 21:29

I want to see the bears. I'm looking for a personal gift for a friends baby. Can someone PM me the name of OPs page?

SrirachaGirl · 27/08/2012 21:37

She's a wacko. Ignore. Rest-up, You Smile.

CockyPants · 27/08/2012 21:40

I like nobles response.
But....
"dear rude TWUNT. I have better things to do than make a shit bitch like you a beautiful bear.
Go fuck yourself."
etc...
