To wish that the panini fad would just go away?

Just paid five whole pounds for some hot cardboard bread stuck together with gloopy, molten cheese. No proper sandwiches to be seen.

Why is it so popular? Will we ever get proper naice sandwiches again.

IT's panini (plural), panino (singular). Not paninis. grrrrrrr.

AnnaRack · 27/08/2012 18:07

Oops that wasn't directed at you, Theodorakis - it's a misspelling that I see everywhere.

AnnaRack · 27/08/2012 18:08

I hate the way they cost at least £2 more than a normal sandwich, guess that's because they come under the pasty tax?

FanOfSlippers · 27/08/2012 18:13

Did anyone else read the title as 'fanini pad'? I thought perhaps the OP was introducing a new term for the muff/fanjo/vagine/ etc.

But sticking to the point in hand, panini are usually rubbish round my way. The only vegetarian option is mozzarella and watery tomato, aka the Blandest Sandwich Filling Ever.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/08/2012 18:15

Ha ha I read the thread title as referring to "fanini pad" - for a minute I thought fanini was the new mn term for fanjo and this thread was about sanitary towels and problem periods! Grin

Mind you..... Paninis, sanitary pads.......is there much difference??!!

I like paninis Blush

Only fresh made ones though, don't like pre-packed sandwiches of any kind.

(and salad on bread is the devil's own invention.)

mamakoukla · 27/08/2012 18:26

PMSL at Theo, AnnaRack hits the nail on the head (I can be a pedant sometimes) but FoS and CHA... faninipad Grin priceless

AmberLeaf · 27/08/2012 18:28

I like them if they are made with nice fillings.

there is a nice place in Borough high st SE1 that sells various panini, a drink and crisps for £3.

where are they £5?

LadySybildeChocolate · 27/08/2012 18:28

They are nice when filled with meatballs, tomatoes and cheese. They are overpriced though and appear to be most of what Starmucks/Nero/Costa sell, along with cheesecake, cookies or chocolate cake. There's just no variety, and warm lettuce isn't the greatest thing to eat {boaks}
