DD wants a couple of exams remarked. I understand and would maybe pay for the D in french if she talks to the teacher first to see if its worth it.

I don't really understand her being all stroppy about wanting an A* in 2 others rather than the As she got. I'm actually a bit cross that she icn't satisfied with it. Its good enough.

Also she is now throwing a wobbly that her options for next year are ckashing. Why the bloody hell hasn't she worked this out snd sorted it slready? Now dhe has to wait till they go back. Which is another 2 weeks of ternagery angst snd end-of-wotlding.

Grrrrrrrrr. Blooddy chikd.

If her papers werent marked properly and she should have got an A but hasnt then why shouldnt she get it remarked? It isnt about being stroppy it is about getting what she worked for. My DD has a possible upgrade from A to A and I am pursuing it. I'm her mum, it's my job!

I may be wrong but I understand that if there is a grade change then the remark cost is refunded.

Current clashes between options may be resolved when the sixth form decide what exactly they are offering and how big the classes are. Tell her that and tell her that she may need to reconsider if the clashes cant be resolved or if a course cant be offered if there isnt sufficient demand.

YABU and do not sound like you are supporting her at all.

AgentZigzag · 25/08/2012 20:08

Is this about the grades she's got, or what you say about her teenager angst?

If it's more about the angst is it better to let her keep focusing it on the grades she got than be directing it you/yours? Grin

She sounds like a person determined to do the best that she can - you must be proud of her Smile

Socknickingpixie · 25/08/2012 20:09

if she wants the A's remarked make her pay out of her pocket money.

as to the D is it because she feels it was marked wrongly or just didnt do as well as expected,if its the first then you pay but if shes wrong she reimburses you if its the other tell her she shouldnt be so silly, sometimes in life we get over confident and dont put the effort we should in.

AgentZigzag · 25/08/2012 20:10

And about the re-marking, can they downgrade as well as upgrade? Or just put in ones they think will get an upgrade?

If they thought it'd go up I'd try for it definitely.

AgentZigzag · 25/08/2012 20:16

Isn't that a bit harsh saying to pay it out of her pocked money pixie?

If she was replacing something she'd broken that'd be fair enough, but it's hardly her fault but could impact on the rest of her life.

TaggieCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:18

It is a bit of a mixture. I think i'll tslk to her teachers when they go back. But have to put up with her being angsty for next few weeks.
I am proud of her hard work and bloody minded determination.

So generally i'm doing a 'we'll see' approach.

In the grand scheme it doesn't matter. She did ok. She got what she needs.

But she's bloody frustrating me.

2 lots of exam results here this August...

Tell you what, I wouldn't be their age now for the whoooole wide world

TaggieCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:28

God no. Nor me.

She'll be fine. I'm not used to her being horrid. She just isn't usually. Which is perhaps a measure of how pissed off she is. So maybe i should push it a bit. Will email teachers i think. And go with what they recommend.

Shes emailing IB coordinator teacher to check the option groups.

PurplePidjin · 25/08/2012 20:32

What is she really stressing about? All the above sounds like displacement imo

TaggieCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:35

Tother one is the AS one.

Msybe shes just still hung over from the post-results party.

I've told her I'll sort it. She's sorting the options bit. As much as she can on a saturday evening anyway.

Bloody teenagers.

Taggie, they rarely adjust grades but it did my kids good to have their Hmm papers sent back. They then looked at them in conjunction with the mark schemes and understoood why they'd lost marks. They were papers that they wanted to resit, though, and they both ended up with the results they wanted.

whathasthecatdonenow · 25/08/2012 20:36

How far off the A*s and C was she? I remark exam papers in this situation and the most I have ever upped one by is 5 marks, which could be a grade up or could not be. Please remember that remarks can go down as well - that happens more often than people think.

As a teacher I've sent two papers back to be remarked this year and the department will cover the cost if they don't go up - and they are to try to turn As into As as I am fairly sure that these papers will go up. Speak to the school - I would guess that they may even cover the cost of the French to get the departments A-Cs up.

PurplePidjin · 25/08/2012 20:43

NT's do it too Wink

TaggieCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:53

Thanks all.

Pidj. Grin just not used to dd1 doing it.
