With DS1 I fell pregnant instantly, happy pregnancy, beautiful baby. However labour was horrendous, 4 days of contractions, ended up in theatre, he was back to back and got stuck, basically using forceps the explanation I got was that they had to push him back up inside me then pull him out. It was awful and i was left in a lot of pain.

After giving birth I had horrendous issues for months but had to really push the Dr's to act which they eventually reluctantly did, resulting in scans and check ups. Eventually I was told I had significant scar tissue around the cervix and one side of my uterus had thickening. I was told this shouldn't cause a problem for me, (other than the extremely painful periods and awful ovulation and messed up cycle) but if so to go back.

Prior to this I have had endometriosis (sp?) and was operated on 5 years ago, plus had a small cyst removed at the same time.

Fast forward 8 mths, son is 18mths old and we have started ttc 2nd child. 3 consecutive miscarriages later, all at 6-8 weeks, we are still trying.

Dr's are telling me I have to have 5 miscarriages before investigation, but with the history I feel they should be doing something now and am revving myself up to push for this first thing tuesday. However I also know that I am very emotional about all of this (3rd miscarriage started today!) and may well be just looking for reasons or something to blame?

what do others think?

P.S. Sorry if the medical terminology is off i have written it as I understand it! any medical peeps wanting to offer insight are very welcome!

It might be a good idea to see if your maternity hospital/ward has a bitth afterthoughts service. Basically they will dig out all your birth records and you have an appointment or more if needed to go through exactly what happened and why and what the implications of these are. Them once you are armed with all the info you will have a stronger case to push for investigations and remedial surgery if needed

I agree with you, they already know you have some issues and shouldn't need to wait till you have 5 misses.

Sorry for your loss.

I had two healthy, quick to conceive children followed by four miscarriages. The fourth was a chemical pregnancy I tested positive but miscarried within a few weeks. I became quite depressed and anemic on iron tablets and within a month had conceived again. I had no hope for the pregnancy as I had been so poorly but it was smooth and DD was born at term. I know that statistically I'm only one in many many million but it can just happen.

After miscarriage four the lady doctor I saw said she could refer after three at her discretion and would I like referral.

All you can do is ask. For the weekend can you wrap up warm, have a glass of something, talk, cry and do what you need to to start on the process of grieving?

I thought it was 3 m/c before investigation?

I am never normally sneaky but I would be tempted to say I have had 5 already unless that could be checked.

A nurse told me about a woman who admitted she had been trying to conceive for 3 months but said 2 years as she didn't want to wait around Shock.

I'm just feel really angry today, feel I've been let down but know that is more about my personal emotions so appreciate the perspective!

Yanbu. I had three miscarriages and then my DD. I was investigated after 3.

IvanaNap · 25/08/2012 17:36

How many doctors have told you this? Does it depend on the area/ hospital? Could you go private? Am Angry and :( on your behalf - so sorry for your losses.
