To not agree with the Sun newspaper publishing photos of Prince Harry naked

According to the BBC tomorrow the pictures will be in the Sun.

I don't really care too much either way about Harry, but I quite like living in a country where somebody is not allowed to use a long-range lens to photograph an individual in private. If my children were to grow up and become famous (somebody shoot down that pig...) I'd like to think they'd have some respect regarding privacy.

I don't see the public interest in seeing them (well I see the interest bit). It's not this particular incident that bothers me, but the idea that fame means it's ok to publish senstive private details for public titilation. If he was the figure-head for a government drive on sexual morality it'd be relevant, but in this case I don't see how it is.

it is purely to claw back some hits from the DM and sell some print newspapers.

And lets be honest, if the all British newspapers had just published them straight after the rest of the world, then no paper in particular would be getting a shedload of publicity from doing so, this thread wouldn't exist and The Sun wouldn't get getting extra sales tomorrow...

... which kind of proves the point about the Streisand effect.

If they were all naked, I'm wondering where the photographer hid the camera?

But why should they "just" print them Hmm?

It goes back to the point that he was in a private room on a private holiday. He is entitled to some privacy!

OhLimpPricks Harry is obviously shit at strip pool and the photographer is good and fully clothed.

All the photos were on the spanish lunch time news including the ones of him holding his willy and puling the naked girl against his willy so it's not a big deal really...or at least nothing more than a handful.

I didn't realise that he picked some girls up in a bar. That was incredibly stupid of him, wasn't it?

Neither the press nor the drink/drug driving driver killed Diana but they were both large contributing factors.

In my opinion the one thing that killed her was her failure to wear a seatbelt.

Prince Harry...I so would Grin

I was really hoping the British newspapers would rise above it but of course the Scum just couldn't resist the urge. I'm dissapointed with myself that I thought for one minute that it would be any different.

If.he wants privacy he can come to mine, I won't tell!

Because its no longer private when its all over the internet and being broadcast to Spaniards over their lunch.

It was incredibly stupid and makes me think he probably doesn't give a shit if naked pictures of him get out.

On privacy... I think that there is a difference between a hotel bedroom and a room in a hotel suite. Another difference is intimacy with one person and nakedness with multiple strangers. He was in a living room, with lots of people, naked and messing around. Private, not really. Public, also not really.

I don't want to buy The Sun and never have, polishing halo but come on, he wasn't THAT bothered if he behaved this way.

If this was photos taken of him naked with a long lense when he didn't know then I would agree to his privacy being invaded.

But these photos were taken in a room of naked people and it wasn't a private moment it was a prank playing strip games and people took photos - it sort of negates any privacy

It's shitty. The newspapers have pushed stories about 'these pictures WHICH WE'RE NOT SHOWING HERE BUT ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE ON THE TMZ SITE' because if they are considered widespread enough (in the public domain) the courts will say they can no longer block their publication and the papers get to print them and increase sales.

The UK press are just using this to try to say they were the nice guys and avoid Leveson fall out by only publishing after everyone else as they didn't have the exclusve so why pay exclusive prices for the photos when they were all over the net. But if they had bought the fotos first you can be sure it would have been exclusive city for one of them

Still - there is a HUGE difference between getting naked at a private party and having your pics splashed over the national and international press.

I presume we are in for a week of SCANDAL headlines, as the journos track down and interview the girls.

NovackNGood · 23/08/2012 23:33

I will write it again that these photos were on every channel in Spain on the lunch time news and all the chat shows two days ago.

NovackNGood · 23/08/2012 23:34

The scandal will come if he has to face a court martial as that kind of behviour has led to other officers in deep water over the years.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/08/2012 23:36

Surely if you are in his position, you know that getting naked at a private party IS being splashed all over the press. I know that and I am; not famous; not an officer; not a rich person; don't have a press officer; haven't had briefing. If he doesn't know, he must be an idiot or not care, which is actually my opinion.

There is a difference between getting naked at a party and the photos ending up everywhere - he is a prince and where did he think the strangers would put the photos?

It isn't as if he has suddenly woken up and found he is a prince - he has been brought up a prince and there is nothing he can do to change that. If he wants to live the high life then he needs to keep it within his own circle of friends and not be so flipping stupid as to party in a such a way to let this happen

Anyone who wanted to see them can find them easily online, I'm not sure why they need to print them really. For their older readers or other people who can't/won't use computers?

Well I am not a royalist and am against the whole concept of royalty. Nevertheless I think the Sun is being very mean in publishing the photos. But that's not really a surprise.

I didn't catch which one, but one of the red tops has already published.
Something about the crown jewels or royal jewels and a front on photo with hands strategically placed earlier.
It was the first thing to greet me in the supermarket.

FairPhyllis ah, thank you. I didn't take that much notice, then read this thread and hoped someone had stolen their thunder, just on principle.

The Sun - not about tackling the issue, more about issuing the tackle.
