My dc have friends over to play.

The friends are screaming in the garden. For no reason other than to make maximum noise, it doesn't have an impact on their game, my kids are not screaming.

I keep asking them to be quiet (politely) as the I the neighbours don't want to have to listen to them.

My dh keeps telling me just to leave them alone, they are only playing and kids being kids.

So mumsnet jury am I just to ignore?

Oh there's nothing worse than children screaming just to make noise. YANBU to tell them to play quieter.

KenLeeeeeee · 23/08/2012 17:28

I do remind my kids to keep the noise down a bit when out in the garden, especially screaming/shrieking. Giggling and talking is totally fine, but some noises really do just grate on MY nerves so I imagine it must drive the little old lady on one side, and the childless mid-50s couple on the other side totally bonkers. The neighbours have never actually complained, but I'd rather teach the kids to have some consideration for people around them anyway.

YANBU. Screaming/shrieking makes my teeth hurt. It also sends my heart in to my throat as I have to check no one is mortally injured/dying.

WhereYouLeftIt · 23/08/2012 17:32

I detest screaming weans. YANBU.

MrsKeithRichards · 23/08/2012 17:36

No need for screaming.

Callisto · 23/08/2012 17:40

I would have told the screaming children to bugger off and scream somewhere else by now. There is no need at all. And your poor neighbours - have none of them complained yet?

NervousAt20 · 23/08/2012 17:41

Kids make noise playing but screaming for the sake of it, no way YANBU at all

Illbewithyouinaminute · 23/08/2012 17:53

Good I'll carry on telling them to zip it.
Very tolerant neighbours, who all fortunately are varying stages of deaf!
