to think that my sister is a penny pincher?

we went out last night for dinner. There was 8 of us inc my DC who are 2&6 and my sister, BIL, DN and BF. It was DN's birthday. We left early with the DC and my sister agreed to sort the bill and let me know how much later.

Today I got a text to say our share was £65 of a bill of £140. The DC's food was £11. On that basis as 2 adults DH and I have paid £54 of the bill which is over a one third share.

I will pay and won't mention it to her but it is typical that instead of deducting the DC food and splitting it 3 ways, we have somehow ended up paying £10 more than the others.

She is a penny pinching git I feel and am a tad irritated by it.

I didn't have any cash and we had to leave early due to the DC. But yes if there is a next time I will leave cash.

and no Plague even adding up our meals and taking into account they had no wine, our bill still comes to £54 aprox. Not that I looked on the restaurants website and added it all up today or anything.........

I'm no good at maths and it's awfully late for me to try and get my head around it,
But
Maybe your sis has taken into account it was your DN's birthday and taken off what she would have eaten and divided the cost of that between the rest of you?

flyingspaghettimonster · 22/08/2012 23:56

how about tip? If she added one she might have added your share of that...

MamaMumra · 23/08/2012 00:35

Might your niece have been treated as its her birthday? And tip?

GnocchiNineDoors · 23/08/2012 00:38

You think your sister is a penny pincher and yet you're the one who quibbling over £10 and working out who had what and checking the prices online. Hmm

AdoraBell · 23/08/2012 03:52

Funny Is this the sister who expects to be catered for while on her self-catering holiday? If so, I think I see a pattern here...

pumpkinsweetie · 23/08/2012 04:23

Yabu-she's your sister, it was your nieces birthday and tbh a tenner isn't worth arguing over. Am i getting it right, you and your dh, your niece and her bf which are grown ups?, your sister & her dp and your two child dcs? went to the meal?

AKissIsNotAContract · 23/08/2012 04:35

You both sound like penny pinchers.

iamstitch · 23/08/2012 06:07

My sister and her DH trumps yours I'm afraid. Wanted to go on holiday but couldn't afford it. Decided to go on a holiday with her friend and her DH. Holiday cost about £1500 and she pled poverty and only paid £200. This is after she had just come back from a holiday abroad which she had managed to pay for.

DeckSwabber · 23/08/2012 08:35

Just put it down to experience and give her the money before you leave next time.

OhTheConfusion · 23/08/2012 09:20

I would pay (and not make the same mistake again) but I would also mention when paying 'we really had a lovely meal the other night, DH and I will definately go back... mind you we will need a babysitter because the childrens meals were beyond expensive Shock.

FunnysInLaJardin · 23/08/2012 10:12

Adora the very same sister. And I think that is why it annoys me so much.

OhThe I like that idea
