Bit precious really.

It will dry. And smell like the Great Outdoors.

Gosh. How to be in edge about trivial stuff.

Hmm I bet you're fun at parties.

HecateHarshPants · 22/08/2012 18:51

My washing smells great when it's been rained on a time or two Grin

poachedeggs · 22/08/2012 18:52

YABU. I can't afford to have the tumble dryer on all the time. I hate washing getting wet again and the frustration of having a backlog when I'm busy and tired. I can totally sympathise with anyone wanting to avoid that.

iknowwho · 22/08/2012 18:54

Trouble is round here a spit of rain has ended up in monsoon like downpours.

Annunziata · 22/08/2012 18:54

YABU, I don't want my nice clean washing ruined by the rain and I don't have the time (and I won't waste money on) to do it again.

2ickleducks · 22/08/2012 18:55

Hmm backatyou.

Little bit of dampness though, poachedeggs? Really?

It really does smell nice doesn't it, HecateHarshPants?

And if you leave it out overnight, then the midnight angels inject a special smell.

OP posts:
2ickleducks · 22/08/2012 18:57

WHY is it ruined?

Confused

Nonsensical.

HecateHarshPants · 22/08/2012 18:58

ooh, I know. Overnight washing just smells amazing!

But I do think it depends where you live.

I grew up up the hill from the coalite and your washing smelled revolting.

Now I live in the derbyshire dales and you've never smelled anything so lovely as the air up here.

Longtallsally · 22/08/2012 18:59

It's a Great British Hobby - beating the weather to get the washing dry. Woman vs the elements! (And I have a mountain of stuff to get washed and dry after being away last week so it's quite a serious hobby this week.)

MrsKeithRichards · 22/08/2012 19:00

I refuse. When I hang washing out its not coming back in until its dry.

Annunziata · 22/08/2012 19:01

They smell horrible after rain, plus they lose their softness.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 22/08/2012 19:02

I put my washing out this morning in blazing sunshine. Five minutes later there was a torrential downpour. I didn't get my washing in on principle - it is going to stay out until it dries, damn it, even if it takes 3 days. And yes, the midnight fairies inject a lovely smell into it! (live in rural Scotland, no nasty anything near me to make it smell funny)

Astr0naut · 22/08/2012 19:07

It depends, doesn;t it? If the washing's already wet, then leave it out. If it's almost dry but you're giving it Just A Bit Longer, then grab your slippers and run my friends; run as fast as your unwieldy laundry basket will allow you to before it's 1-0 to the weather.

MrsKeithRichards · 22/08/2012 19:09

I've finished hanging washing up in the rain before.

Debeez · 22/08/2012 19:14

"Woman vs the elements! " Why do I see Bear Grylls wife presenting a tv version of this?

I love the midnight fairies and their special smell for slatterns

I leave it out, my Mother would need smelling salts at the suggestion. We're both rather fun at parties though. Grin

Hairtodayandgonetomorrow · 22/08/2012 19:17

I tumble dry everything even in the summer, my washing always seems to be a target for bird poo or spiders if I hang it out.

openerofjars · 22/08/2012 19:41

The midnight fairies round here fucking well steal washing left out.

KittyFane1 · 22/08/2012 19:47

Rained on washing smells vile.

2ickleducks · 22/08/2012 20:00

No it doesn't, it smell lush you weirdoes.

CouthyMow · 22/08/2012 20:10

If you leave washing out when it rains, then let it dry, it goes all crunchy and horrid. Not that I would know, oh no, not me...

That's why I rush to bring it in.

DozyDuck · 22/08/2012 20:20

I tumble dry everything. Everyone smokes in their gardens along my little terraced row of houses and washing smells of it. Plus DS would pull them down, plus a wasp stung me once while I was bringing the washing in....plus...the dryer is easier Wink

NanettaStocker · 22/08/2012 20:22

Rain isn't clean. If it was, we'd never need to wash our cars.

2ickleducks · 22/08/2012 20:25

BUt your body heat stops it being crunchy and horrid.

It really does, you wusses.

OP posts:
gwenniebee · 22/08/2012 20:27

Now I'm wondering if you're my neighbour... I hung all mine out this morning and then it started raining just as I was finishing... so I took it all down again. It looked like it might rain heavily. It was a load of muslins and I haven't got enough to be leaving them wet for ever. I don't have a tumble dryer so that's not an option.

Might I be very cheeky and say maybe you need to get a proverbial if you feel the need to get upset about other people's drying habits.....? [runs and hides...]
