They are also painful, any ideas to help with the pain/burning sensation/itch? First pregnancy, never had stretch marks before.

I've tried all the oils and butters you can think of, now I just really want something to help with pain and I have accepted the fact that they won't go away, just hoping they will fade.

Hmmmmmm. How pregnant are you? There are a few skin conditions that flare up in pregnancy, itching in/on stretch marks can be something called PUPP. Might be worth getting it checked.

I've heard that severely itchy stomach during pregnancy needs to be checked out, but most women will have the odd scratch now and again. As for being upset by them, firstly they WILL fade (not disappear completely) on ther own and secondly try Bio Oil, I never remembered to use it myself and I'm not bothered by my strechmarks but other people I know swear by it .

Eurax is good for itches, stops them completely and soothes the skin. Lotion is better than the cream imo.

If you have pain and severe itching I would say go to the GP or mention it to your midwife. Some itching is normal but pain and severe itching could be signs of other things.

If it is just non-stretchy skin perhaps you could try lanacane ointment? You'll need to ask the doctor if it's suitable for pregnancy. It's quite effective for reducing itching.

You have my sympathy - that sort of painful itch is so so irritating.

I remember mine were purple and red and thinking that they would never fade, but now they are completely skin colour. I didn't use any creams or anything, just waited for them to fade on their own and eventually they did.

I thought I would never wear a bikini ever again but I do and strangely feel more confident about wearing one than I did pre-stretchmarks!

I would go to the GP about them being painful, mine were just itchy. They will have better creams than you can get over the counter.

Thank you all for your responses, I went to my GP and currently waiting for the blood tests as they need to know if it's more than just stretch marks, as some of you have mentioned. Hope all of you are having a good day Smile
