to ask to about rashes?

I know this shouldn't be in AIBU but I'm concerned and there's never anyone around in childrens health.

DD (8.5) has a rash all over her. She had it when she woke up on Monday morning so I took her to GP. He says it looks like an allergy to him to give her piriton if it itches etc. She has no temperature, no aches and pains, no other symptoms at ALL. Woke up yesterday and it was quite a lot worse so I look her back to GP and saw a different doctor who also said that he thinks it is an allergy, piriton etc. She was woken up today and it's worse again and I'm just worried. She has no other symptons at all - it started as a red pin prick rash but parts of it are not joined together, it's raised, not itchy and blanches when I touch it. Am I being neurotic about this? Has anyone else had anything similar? She was at a party on Sunday and they were in a heated swimming pool (indoors) so I'm wondering about chemicals etc?

Has anyone else come down with a rash? This is kind of random but I was watching them One SHow this week where they talked about a caterpillar from (I think) the oak processionary moth which releases little toxic hairs that cause a rash. Parts of the country have a problem with them (Bromley was the most recent IIRC)

YANBU to be concerned about your child's health, but in this case, I really don't think I'd worry too greatly. You've seen two GPs who have both said it looks like an allergic reaction, she's not in distress with it, she has no other symptoms. I think I'd just follow their piriton advice (and poss lots of fluids) for a couple of days and then go back if it's not gone away.

Hope she gets rid of it soon Smile

If she doesn't have a temperature its very unlikely to be an infection

I'd be looking at what her bedding and clothes are washed in
Have you changed detergent or conditioner lately?

Ifi ts hot where you are is she sweating a lot at night?

I'd wash her bedding in non bio
give her warmish showers, not cold and not too hot.

Let her sleep with just a sheet if its hot

Well I just had a text saying that another little boy who was at the same party has a slight rash too, so I'm really wondering about the pool, DD did say she had to get out because it was to hot. We're going on holiday on Friday and I was hoping it would be gone by then. (not abroad but she's getting self conscious about it).

I did change washing powder about 8 weeks ago so would it take this long? I'm a worrier anyway but her little face is covered bless her. Sad

I can't diagnose but a bit of advice, not all antihistamines are the same.

I had a reaction to the contrast dye used for a CT scan - I was bright red. I took antihistomines and stayed red so I looked up the contrast in the BNF and it said I needed two different antihitomines at the same time. Maybe take her to the chemist and ask the pharmacist.

Re the washing powder. You said you changed it 8 weeks ago but have you put the washed sheets on her bed yet? (not saying you are not hygenic but I have sevveral sets of bed linen so some can be in the cupboard for a while)
