Singing at the end of every bloody song!!?!

WerthersUnOriginal · 21/08/2012 16:39

How? Why is he still on radioConfused. He should have been farmed out the the 'mumblin' around midnight slot' years ago and yet mysteriously survives every cull. All that posse crap is so dated and tired. How he keeps going is beyond me.

violathing · 21/08/2012 16:40

I don't like it when he refers to the old woman. Not very respectful of our elders. Do like the 3pm oldies, not as much talk but it does depend who chooses. Good today listen on way home from work

ovenchips · 21/08/2012 16:45

He's really not very bright is he?

His interviewing technique is like a stream of consciousness. He piles about 18 questions together along with what he presumes the answers might be so the interviewee normally only gets to say a quick yes or no, then it's on to the next stream.

I also dislike his similarly not too bright sidekick Tim. He is somehow like a really annoying square and anal neighbour and sort of sucks the joy out of any topic you happen to chat about. His film reviews also have to be heard to be believed.

campocaro · 21/08/2012 16:55

I cant stand the way he presents and treats the audience. In labour 12 years ago I found radio 2 for some reason to be a good distraction. Terry Wogan, Ken Bruce, Jimmy Young....and then in the afternoon Steve Wright came on-TURN IT OFF ! I screamed as the next contraction reached its peak. I am pleased to say that my daughter was born in time for the Archers...

It's not irrational. He's a bell end.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 21/08/2012 17:30

I don't like the way the whole studio team laugh sycophantically when they have a celebrity guest.

Generally I do like R2.
Chris Evans, Ken Bruce, Elaine Paige for her music choice, not her laugh. Graham Norton is fab.
Thank Christ Richard Madeley has fucked off.

And I adore Johnnie Walker.
Plays the best music in the world.

mcmooncup · 21/08/2012 17:30

Steve Wright, for example, is a twat

ImpatientOne · 21/08/2012 17:35

And he thinks the world starts and ends in London - except if he's just been on holiday to America.

Yesterday he was going on and on about how brilliant the weather had been at the weekend until someone reminded him that it had only been good 'in the south' grrrrrrrr and Angry

OhLimpPricks · 21/08/2012 17:36

I can't bear him, he behaves like a 16 year old. I feel like topping myself when Chris Tarrant stands in for him. He is even worse , sucking in air theough his teeth.

ovenchips · 21/08/2012 17:40

OhLimpPricks you are right. It slipped my mind how utterly awful Christ Tarrant is as a stand-in. And he seems to really dislike listeners in a faux jolly way. When they have to almost beg to get their selection of oldies played.

lizzieangelbug · 21/08/2012 17:43

I don't like him but everyone who emails in "loves the show" I didn't notice that until my dh pointed out he always says that. After every email. Its always on at work so I have to suffer it.

AlmostAHipster · 21/08/2012 17:45

Aww, you bunch of witches! I love him - he makes me titter! :)

Kveta · 21/08/2012 17:51

I don't hate him as much as I do Tarrant, but it's a close run thing.

PerfectStranger74 · 21/08/2012 17:54

Can't fucking stand him!
He really does my head in, ruining songs and being a sycophantic PRICK.
He even talks and rings over on Sunday love songs, when people wait YEARS to get their dedication on, then he goes and fucking RUINS it!
Tosser!

OhLimpPricks · 21/08/2012 17:57

Des Carrington, 7pm on Fridays - my guilty pleasure. If i'm at home, everything stops :-) !

ShowOfHands · 21/08/2012 18:33

Oh God Madeley and when Fiona "Fifi" Phillips joins him and they say things like "oh that poor woman with her broken leg, it's just the worst thing in the world ever Rich" "oh I know darling Fifi, as Judy was saying to Sting last week over supper..."

Yes, yes, well done you're a twat in a world of twats and we're not worthy. Twat.

Oh God he is so crap. His show was original and funny 20 years ago. Now it's dated recycled crap.

Gah.

I can't believe I used to like him, what on earth was I thinking???

I listen to good 'ol Ken Bruce, then Jeremy Vine (never Vanessa...oh no...) then....that's it Sad I have to switch it over from that smuggier than smug, inane, drivel that is Mr W.

Totally not irrational to get angry at that twat.

that word.............factoids Angry I hate the word, hate it.

I hate the way he sings and ruins songs.

I hate the stupid Barry and old woman voices

I hate that he's as thick as shit.

gingertessa · 21/08/2012 23:14

Radio 2 actually did an advert for Steve Wright's show promoting the fact that he sings along to all the tracks FFS! His show is painful. Totally agree with many other posters that Ken Bruce is fab though - I might try and get on Popmaster now I'm on mat leave :)

TodaysAGoodDay · 21/08/2012 23:19

YABU, he's lovely. It's that Jeremy Vine I can't stand - mountains out of molehills I tell you.
