neighbours flea infestation

Our neighbours from hell have at last moved out with their poor abused dogs. The problem is we share a front garden and whilst looking for the 4 cats they have abandoned I went into their open house and realised its really infested ( I was covered within 20 seconds) with fleas. We are hoping to buy the house. The owners have been really unreasonable over the years but at last we have struck a deal. Am I being unreasonable to request that they sort out the fleas first , or should I just add it to the long list of things we have had to endure from them and keep quiet so we can buy the house with no more disputes and finally get shot of them.

I'd be inclined to put up with it, just to get shot of them. Is it really worth delaying the sale for?

Stipulate that they have to get in a pest control company to thoroughly fumigate the house. Do not move in with it like that - it'll be a total nightmare.

Really hope you find the cats - that's kind of you.

Put up with it.

You can easily get an empty house fumigated.

Local council may even do it free.

It will probably cost you abut £40-50 to get the house treated, not worth the trouble if things have already been difficult.

HeadfirstOverTheHighJump · 19/08/2012 22:40

You can treat it easily and cheaply enough, so I'd be inclined to just be glad to see the back of them and do it yourself.

Get a good house spray from the vets, or ring the council, they have people that come and treat the infestation too.

Fleas live in soft furnishings so, once the furniture's gone and you've got rid of any carpets etc., you should be able to fumigate the place relatively easily.
