Talk about the straw that broke the camels back Grin

I know that I will get a resounding YABU and entitled but I could honestly just cry and cry Sad

I loved that kindle, I am stuck in bed most days (I'm disabled not just lazy Wink) and it was fab for keeping me occupied. I won't be able to replace it, my DH saved up for months and months to buy it for me

Things have been pretty crappy for us recently but I always try and look on the bright side and count my blessings, but this has really got to me!

So come on- bring on the YABU's Grin

YANBU. I also spend a lot of time in bed or on the sofa (disabled also, not lazy) and I thought I'd lost my kindle. I cried. Then I found it in the biscuit cupboard. Blush

def call them. i didn't know that amazon did this and when dh broke his (which i had had my us based sister get him for his 50th brthday when they forst cameout) we did nothing and waited until i saved up enough for a replacement 3 years later!

Pancakeflipper · 18/08/2012 20:09

Oooh good luck OP, fingers crossed for a happy Kindle outcome.

They replaced mine when it broke too, but it was within the warranty time.

I have the app on my iPad as well. The thought of them both breaking makes me feel ill!

flapperghasted · 18/08/2012 20:11

YANBU at all. I've got no excuse for laying about and reading mine but I do it anyone. Another massive praise for Amazon here. Mine stopped working just in warranty and I had a new one delivered next day, no charge.

To be fair, they want you buying digital books from them so they have a vested interest in keeping you attached.

coconutparadise · 18/08/2012 20:11

I am another one who spends most of the time in bed (disabled and lazyWink) so get irrationally upset at the thought of these mishaps!

griphook · 18/08/2012 21:26

Defo call amazon, they have replaced my friend 4 times now and she trod on one of them and they just sent her a new one,

I have a kindle on order for my birthday, can I ask if anyone has one that hasn't broke?!

vodkaanddietirnbru · 19/08/2012 10:46

mine hasnt broken - had it at least a year now (better not have jinxed it now!)

janey68 · 19/08/2012 10:53

Household insurance? Or just ring amazon and see what they say... They are generally pretty good.

Another vote for Amazons amazing Kindle support.

I sold all my old clothes to buy one for DH at Christmas. He loves it. Then I had to go to A&E so borrowed it for the inevitably long wait. Promptly collapsed on arrival and the paramedics ran over the dropped Kindle with a gurney. Wasnt complaining, just a bit gutted (and guilty!)

DH rang Amazon at 8pm that night to see what we could do about the cracked screen and they shipped out a new one free of charge. Arrived the next morning!
