and that I should have got one yesterday, and should not have asked for one the day before that, which I got with some fussing, after I stayed up with him until 2am the night before.

After DH returned, on wednesday evening, from two weeks in USA, which included 3 days working in california, some chill time in california, then 5 days in hawaii swimming with turtles, kayaking down a river, drinking beer, going to beach BBQs, with no children and no responsibility.

While I took 2 weeks leave to look after my lovely children who are on summer holidays, on my own with not a huge amount of help, and a fucked back, and I go back to work on monday, while he has until tuesday off work.

Despite him being jetlagged?

Or am I indeed 'the most unsympathetic person he has ever met' for not letting him sleep his jetlag off?

oh and due to having seriously tough physio last night was in a lot of pain, took large amount of meds, did not sleep easily and was back up with DH on his jetlag time at midnight, til 1am, and while he was asleep by then, i was up til almost 2 due to side effects of meds making me wired. So I am in fact 'jetlagged' too Grin

that did not read right. I meant, due to physio yesterday, last night i was in a lot of pain!

How long does jet lag last? I thought travelling from west to east doesn't give you bad jet lag, at least that's what I've experienced.

I'd be pissed off with him too.

PavlovtheCat · 18/08/2012 08:11

He was floored last time, for about 3-4 days.

i think what has messed him up is california is 8 hours behind i think and hawaii is 3 further hours behind, so he had a few days in one different time zone, then a few more in another then back to california then back to here.

Poor man, how tough it must be for him.

I seem to remember always wanting to get really early when coming back that way. Worked with a lot of NZ people who would always get into work about 5am for a few days after a trip back home. No, YANBU. Ive just stomped back to bed. DH felt he needed a lie-in after my getting up and down to look after the baby all night woke him up. My heart bleeds

PavlovtheCat · 18/08/2012 08:31

just the one opinion? a good one mind you Grin

i have no idea, i know he was tired yesterday afternoon, wide awake at midnight when I got up, and asleep by 1am! He struggled yesterday morning too.

but he is right in that I am not actually that sympathetic. He is not sick, he is recovering from a trip of a lifetime.

So how did he manage all the beer drinking and turtle swimming with the jet lag he must have suffered if he is so prone to suffering?

PavlovtheCat · 18/08/2012 08:38

He did not suffer too badly on the way out. Because he had to work the following day, probably had a few beers the night he got there, then worked 24 hours straight. i expect beer drinking helped a lot Grin and it is amazing what you can do when you are going to kayak down a river, compared to, say, having to do breakfast and be jumped on by children Grin

He is always ok going out, and returning is screwed. I don't know how, it is the other way around for me.

YANBU! What I always have been told is that it's best to immediately get into the rythm of the "new" timezone, that way you're past the jetlag quickest. So not only do you of course deserve a lie in today and tomorrow after 2 weeks by yourself with the kids, it's in his best interest as well :)

PavlovtheCat · 18/08/2012 09:49

oh well you know what? sod him, let him have his lie in, today, and tomorrow and let his body clock be screwed. He will be getting up with the children on monday, prepared or not. At least I will get some TLC and a break at work!
