Full of couples and families. I went to watch Ted tonight and mostly OK.

I'm Ted-ing tomorrow night. And Noodle Bar-ing after!

SoleSource · 17/08/2012 23:05

Alone? Jumping.

The pirate copy of Ted landed at my house tonight and I fully intend to watch it tomorrow with a takeaway Grin

But no, how can you possibly be unreasonable?

JumpingThroughHoops · 17/08/2012 23:06

Girls from work.

But I have no qualms about doing things alone wahay

peanutMD · 17/08/2012 23:07

YANBU, I am a weirdo and can't gather up the nerves to do this but would live to be able to!

I can't even go to subway for a drink myself without feeling awkward.

goatscanlaugh · 17/08/2012 23:07

urbu
Stay at home....grrrrr.....making couples make as if they are being weird being with someone and all.....conform dammit!!!!

SoleSource · 17/08/2012 23:07

I used to go the cinema by myself when I was single, and if I wanted to see a film now that a friend or my DH didn't want to see, I would happily do it again.

Not sure about restaurants, though. For me, eating out is a social thing, and although I don't think YABU, I wouldn't enjoy it.

Why do you ask? Did you get funny looks, or do friends/family think it's a bit odd?

carrotsandcelery · 17/08/2012 23:08

I love going on my own. I haven't done it for a while but I feel a spate of it coming on. I do have to be careful where I park if I go at night time though.

MsNobodyAgain · 17/08/2012 23:46

Don't see the issue. You are alone, you go alone. Other people barely give it a thought.

YANBU. The absolute best thing about having a newborn baby is the opportunity, nay obligation, it gives you to go to the cinema once a week and watch a new movie at the Big Scream essentially alone (baby does not count as will not argue with choice of film or ask questions about plot) every week (or, if you live in SW4, twice a week) without anyone looking at you funny.

cakeismysaviour · 17/08/2012 23:51

I used to go to the cinema alone in the daytime.

I was once the only person seeing the film I was watching.

It was BLISS. Grin

Yourefired · 17/08/2012 23:53

I don't think odd at all. At college friendly with a girl, who was perfectly normal socially, who would only go to the cinema on her own. She was quite insistent about it. She was very into film and said she hate going with others as they may talk etc. and ruin her pass time. I quite admired her, as I have a cinema buddy who does just this and it drives me, and probably people sitting near us, mad. Bluntly I would rather just me there.

FannyMcNee · 18/08/2012 00:00

Have done - and would happily do - both.

YADNBU, I haven't yet plucked up the courage to cinema it alone but I really want to.

TurncoatEwok · 18/08/2012 00:43

I'd quite like to go on my own. Have eaten in restaurants alone but probably wouldn't want to in the evening if it was full of smooching couples! I like quiet places.

When I was first pregnant I took one of my last non-mummy days to just be in London by myself all day, it was fab.

GnocchiNineDoors · 18/08/2012 00:46

I reckon ill be alone watching Life of Pi as noone I know has read the book.

Might treat myself to.dinner too, make a night of it a la SoulSource

sashh · 18/08/2012 08:56

I have not done it for a while but have no problems with cinema or restraunt.

But then I've been to South America and Australia alone, so the cinema is a bit tame.

peanutMD

Go on, do it. This weekend. I dare you.

tiredcommuter · 18/08/2012 09:07

I do it quite often, when DP has band practice. I love it, I can pick the film and I get all my OWN popcorn. What's not to like!

I do also eat in resturants on my own as I work away alone sometimes and its that or room serivce all the time. I just take a book or a mag, I don't care if I get looks and I really don't see why people would thing a woman eating on her own is strange.

Enjoy the film!

SoleSource · 18/08/2012 10:16

Ooh thank you for replies. Glad I am not alone. Smile.

What makes you think it would be unreasonable?

AlmostAHipster · 18/08/2012 10:23

I had a (rare) child-free night last night and am now kicking myself that I didn't go to the flicks by myself. It would have been lovely

Next time!

Rollersara · 18/08/2012 10:27

DP talks through every film, asking questions I can't answer - I have to remind him that I am watching the same film, I have no more info than he does! He's just started going back to the gym on his own at weekends while I look after 6 month old DD. I might use my "alone time" to go to the cinema and have a peaceful experience for once and not have to share the pick n mix! Grin
