To think I was dropped on my head at birth?

So I finally get round to take my driving test after years trying. I turn up at the test centre today at 1.30 only to be told that my test was at 11.30. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I didn't print out the time as I ran out ink but carefully wrote down the time in my diary or so I thought.

Just went to New Look to do some retail therapy and overheard a group of 17 year old girls talking about their driving shoes and how they drive here , there and everywhere. I am 34. Hopeless aren't I?

I rebooked text, printed it out this time and have stapled in diary. The trouble is I have always bbeen a space cadet..it's getting me down.

You are comparing being disorganised with brain damage?
You just need to concentrate on the task in hand more carefully.

One of my friends dropped her cousin on her head when she was a few days old, and turns out she is the cleverest kid in the family.

Sorry I don't mean to offend with my rather crass thread title. I do need to concentrate on the task in hand which is why I don't excell at driving. I am a bit of a day dreamer. It annoys me.

I dropped my son. He's fine Grin

I on the other hand suffered no childhood mishaps and your experience rings many bells. Having a diary is a good step towards organisation. I also request reminder letters wherever possible just to double proof myself.

I was dropped on my head, and passed my test at 19 Wink
Good luck next time OP, we all have bad days!

BeaWheesht · 17/08/2012 18:20

Ah its ok you only said it in jest.

I was dropped on my head as a baby. I'm never late.

If you look at my nickname you'll not be surprised to know I'm very similar! I've known my brother in law since I was 11 and he was 25. He always got frustrated with me because if something was going to go wrong it was going to happen to me. He now has a 9 year old daughter who is apparently "Just like Auntie J". NOW he sees it wasn't me being dim/a space cadet/dropped at birth; it's just me! And now his daughter. I have a calendar on my phone shared with my husband which means I always know where I'm supposed to be (when he updates it anyway!) and I have a "Life Reminders" app on my phone to remind me of little things like "buy milk" or "book train tickets". And taking the time to s l o w d o w n and read things properly. And I passed my test after a million and one lessons but first time!
