to laugh at Ian Beale and his hat every time he appears on Eastenders

I know its meant to be dramatic acting, as his character has had some kind of break-down. I am sure he will grow into it and it may prove to be a good and interesting storyline.

But for now, whenever he appears in his Benny hat trying to play that part, I laugh out loud.

I haven't watched EE in years. Can anyone sum up Ian Beale's last ten years in a few sentences?

Likes to think he's so much better than everyone else.

Punches above his weight in terms of girlfriends, treats the decent one's like skivvy's and totaly for granted.

Lands a few gold diggers/piss takers, treats them like Queens, kids come second best while it all goes on.

As time passes he becomes more and more of a joke.

Kabooooom · 17/08/2012 12:49

Not forgetting getting his head flushed down the toilet!

GWenlockMaryLacey · 17/08/2012 13:02

It's a bit like Henry VIII...

Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded....er....ran off!:)

WhataTreat · 17/08/2012 16:24

It is awwwful at the moment!

Why do they insist on walking him round the square instead of taking him to a doctor or mental health professional?!

I couldn't stop laughing when they sat him in the vic with a sarnie and a pint - you can't just put him in normal situations and expect it to be ok!

Re. The hat, I seriously thought Lucy's one request would be "you can
move back in if you lose the hat" !!

What about the first day he came back, he was sitting in Max's house and picked his ear and ATE IT! Sick!

MrsKeithRichards · 17/08/2012 17:48

It is a bit ridiculous but I'm getting irrationally angry at the whole thing. If he was walking about with a broken leg someone would phone a doctor. The guy is seriously unwell and no one is helping him!

GreenEyesAndHam · 17/08/2012 17:54

That hair is so attached to that hat.

He's a terrible actor, as is Sharon. At least nowadays the soaps cull the child actors somewhere between 11 and 16 and bring in new shiny attractive ones who've actually had drama lessons.

Birdsgottafly · 17/08/2012 17:59

Phil has been frightened that Ben killing Heather has been partly to blame for the break down so has told Max that he has tried to persuade Ian to see a doctor.

He's had Ben speak to him, so has now got Sharon (but it's gone pear shaped cos Ben confesed to Shirley).

EEis the one that i watch faithfully.

anditwasallyellow · 17/08/2012 19:03

I don't laugh but he does put me off my food I normally like to have a bit of choclate while I'm watching Enders. I wish he'd have a good wash and a haircut.

janelikesjam · 17/08/2012 22:01

I quite like Sharon in it now, going for a drink in the Vic with no cash just her kid. A little bit film noirish, if I may say so. And the kid is beautiful - why not the usual bullet-head shouty child of EE?
