Clarkes are so ugly, I don't want to put him in daft brand names or badly fitting shoes. Want some warm, comfy nice ones for Autumn that will go with anything i.e jeans and joggers.

these?

Converse?

accessorizequeen · 14/08/2012 23:05

Ah, that's how you shop at sports direct. Knew I was missing a trick. But still don't like the place, don't want White as it won't stay that way (hah!) and ds turned down every black pair. Plus difficult to find anything for narrow feet there.
Converse are fab but I like shoes they can put on themselves. Hoping ds1 might learn soon!
Got ds3 gorgeous Ricosta shoes, he's nearly 4. Luckily half price as they're £££ normally but check Amazon?

smellyolddog · 14/08/2012 23:08

Converse now do high tops that have velcro at the sides, my 5 year old and 8 year old both live in these! so cool and easy to get on and off.

Other than that sara do nice boys trainers and gap?

Filofax · 14/08/2012 23:09

I got my son some adidas gazelles in last year's Next summer sale. He wore them to death and they looked great with jeans. I like hi-tops and old school styles, try Next if you don't want a branded pair. They usually echo brands but without the price tag.

accessorizequeen · 14/08/2012 23:10

Thanks smelly, I will look out for those. They are good for narrow feet, I think.

anditwasallyellow · 14/08/2012 23:11

Those h&m are lovely thing that puts me off converse is mine rubbed my feet for a while. Ds had had two pairs of converse for spare/trendy and the hightops were really hard to get on his feet, the low ones were ok but then they are also pretty flimsy and not waterproof want an all round good shoe!

I've had a pair for ds1, very very wide fitting but super warm & cute. Didn't think the quality was that great, but a 4yo will grow out of them soon enough!

youjusthaventearnedityetbaby · 14/08/2012 23:42

Javari is brilliant...
My DS had some lovely Etnies from there.
He currently has a pair of the velcro Converse which I got in the Next sale last year. They are lovely and haven't rubbed his feet at all.

CouthyMow · 14/08/2012 23:47

Airwalks from Sports Direct are wide. They fit my 'H' width DS1, he has has then since he was about 5yo. He also has a very high instep, but because they are 'skater' style, they fit over that too. He won't wear anything else because they're 'uncomfortable' if they aren't Airwalks!

CouthyMow · 14/08/2012 23:48

Those Dinosoles last really well, my friend has a pair for her 4yo.

CouthyMow · 14/08/2012 23:53

From experience, Sketchers are fashion trainers and not built to last.

Etnies however, seem practically indestructible, even on my Ricosta ruining, tree climbing, lake paddling, bike riding, football playing 14yo DD.

She has just grown out of a pair that she has had for 18 months - and they still look bloody brand new!

accessorizequeen · 15/08/2012 07:23

Re: dinosoles, I think there's a world of difference between what a 4yo and a 6/7yo boy do with shoes, ds does trash every pair he has before he outgrows them!
Are Etnies v.wide fitting? I presume most skater-type shoes are? I can't find anywhere other than Clarks that do an E/F fitting, thus the Usain Bolt gold monstrosities!!

JumpingThroughHoops · 15/08/2012 07:26

Airwalk are very good.

CouthyMow · 15/08/2012 09:09

Entries are not quite as wide fitting as Airwalks IME.

CouthyMow · 15/08/2012 09:11

Entries? Wtf is Autocorrect on about?! ETNIES!

DD has 'normal' width feet. Etnies are fine for her. Unsure they would fit either of my 'H' fitting boys though. I know Airwalks do.

LIZS · 15/08/2012 09:13

Geox, Timberland , Merrell, Columbia - check out the clinkards website or a local outlet centre.

tiredteddy · 15/08/2012 09:26

I'm just going to vote again for geox. They are normally gortex so waterproof which is a god send with active boys in the autumn/ winter. They do nice colours and seem to bridge the shoe/trainer gap and look good with trousers or jeans or joggers. I'm a convert! Yes expensive but worth it. You can get them in the sale in John Lewis, Charles clinkard or on eBay and they sometimes pop up in tkmaxx too.

Xanniiismypanda · 21/08/2012 18:48

Try Office as they always have some great offers on the childrens Adidas Adi-Fit and they really are nice (not to chavvy etc) but really hard wearing and go with anything .
